This is so freaking strange, I found a green card hanging down from my A/C vent by the steering wheel in my car this morning, i bought my car about 5 months ago from a car dealer and i don't know if i should take the card back to him (he might return it to the original owner of the car) or send it to the local office of USCIS??
or take it to the police station?

I would send it to INS

I read somewhere here that if you report your RTD stolen you will most likely got to 2ndary inspection at POE even after you get a new document.

The owner of that green card may have a hard time even after he gets a new one.

BTW, any way I can find one with my name in it, under my pillow? let me know how I can talk to the Green Card fairy.

Paste your pic on it. :D

Just kidding my friend. I know you have been waiting for long time for yours. Maybe that is a sign. Yours is coming.

lol, you guys made me laugh.... but i really need to do something with this tarjeta...lol

call 1-800 and ask them what to do. I think you have to be kind enogh to mail back to USCIS. GC is a very important document in the US, that people are ready to kill eachother over it. So be careful.

We all know how efficient the USCIS is. If you send it to them it will get lost inside the USCIS beast.

Look up the address of the owner. Mail it back to him/her. If you cannot find him or her hand it over to local law enforcement.

Unreal - Good in Solving Problems

either:

1. Have CIA and FBI visiting you because this issue.
or
2. As Don Chinche said: " sell it on EBAY "

asylee01: now, in a serious way: why you gonna complicate your life by doing all that you mentioned??
Just send it to BCIS and relax buddy.....

Regards,

My suggestion

Best thing to do would be, call the car dealer you bought the car from and ask for the address or a phone number of the previous car owner by mentioning his name. Tell him that you have found a very important immigration related document and the owner might be freaking out about it. I'm sure he'll understand and cooperate. If that doesn't work try to google the name of the card owner and if that also fails just go to local police and hand them over the card and tell them to keep you posted if they find the cardholder.
Thanks

I think the best place to turn the greencard in your local police. In most cases, people who lose important items report to the police. they give their address, phone number and other contacts. therefore, I suggest that you turn thing over your local police. USCIS is also good place turn it over...In each case, make sure that the thing do not fall into wrong hands. I once found a whole wallet with greencard, ID, and other items in it. There was an address on the ID, and I mailed the whole thing to the address. I don't if it was ever delivered to the owner, but I did my part of the job (common sense morality).

My co-worker lost her gc and applied for a new one. Now everytime she comes back from foreign countries, she has to go to a secondary inspection.

There you go. I am hoping to NEVER lose any of my INS documents, to avoid the chamber of torture at POE
