Hi Big Joe or anyone with knowledge,

My asylum was granted on 1/27/11 and so I was wondering when is the right time to file my green card application.

Cheers,

Thank you both! I was hoping to give it a head start since my year is up in less than 2 months, but I guess I have to be patient.

These two months can be of use in making the necessary preparations to apply as soon as possible. Start with reading the I-485 and associated form instructions. Gather documents, arrange a medical exam etc...

Good Luck.

Good advice!

Regarding medical exam, am I expected to submit a vaccinations report? If yes, how does one get one? I have an appointment for medical exam this next week. Thank you again for all your help. BTW, a legal aid attorney is helping me file.

If you don't have the records or cannot get them, you will have to take the shots again. I don't know where you are located, but here in NYC, I was able to get the shots for free.

I had taken all the shots, but did not have records. But I simply told the civil surgeon that I had all the shots taken. And that took care of it. However, the whole thing- including shots and everything else should not cost you, in most cases, over $300.

I did not have the records and the Civil Surgeon that I went to told me I had to get the shots all over again. All in all I think I paid around $250.

Thank you guys for your responses. I called a couple of doctors but wouldn't get the right answer without the consultation. I did have all my shots and hope they don't make me do it all over again. I live in LA by the way.

Ok so I went in yesterday and was given a chest X-ray exam. I also has a tdap shot. The civil doctor cost $75, the X-ray $35, and the shot $63.99. I go back for my results on Tuesday. Thanks everyone for all your help.
