Geting N-Passport after GC

Question to this topic. If LPR ( say family based green card ) and if the one for any reason does not want to get U.S. citizenship and U.S. passport, then can he/she apply for passport of the country he/she came from ?

I wanna do that, because my passport expires in half year - so I just wanna get new one when I'll be on the next visit of my "old home" country.

Is it real problem ?

It's only a problem for those who got granted asylum or refugee status in the US. They obtained their status in the US by convincing the US government they were persecuted by their country, so if they go and apply for a passport and it is granted, it casts doubt on their claims of persecution. Even worse is if they go back to visit the country they escaped from.

For other people who never claimed any such animosity with their country of citizenship, you are expected to apply for and use your country's passport when you travel internationally.
