GC under EB1 attending Citizenship interview- help needed urgently

opinion

One of the lawyers is of the opinion that EB1-EA should be treated as National asset rather than mere employment. This is one of the reasons people do not requires proof of employement before filing the application for EB1-EA. This doesn't mean that one can misuse EB1-EA. But, one has to exhibit their expertise in the national interest at some point of time . Also, IO has every right to question about employment during an interview. However, one can defend themselves easily by providing suitable explainations.

My worry is what is the gravity of this issue at an interview. Do I need to hire an attorney? please advise.

Just come prepared to the interview with documentary proof to support your explanation (both of your joblessness and how you were being financially supported). There is absolutely no need to hire an attorney for this purpose unless your naturalization is denied.

As evidence, you might want to gather job applications in your field that show that US citizenship is required in order to show why you haven't been able to be employed in your field.

Thanks

Thank you all for your valuable sugeestions. I shall prepare accordingly and shall let u know the result of the interview once it is done.

Citizenship Interview Experience at San Jose -DO

Myself and my wife had our citizenship interview at San Jose -DO today. Our eligibility criteria is based on the 5 year permanent residency. My interview was at 12:30 p.m and my wife was at 1.30 p.m.

I was called in by IO sharp at 12:30 p.m. To begin with, IO asked for my GC, Passport and DL after taking the oath to swear the truth. First question that he asked me was: How did you get your Green Card? I answered him that I received my GC through EB1-EA. Then he started browsing my immigration history (probably) from the big file that he was having. In between he was looking at the desktop terminal also. I really don't know what he was checking at that time. Subsequently, IO took my passport and started crossing out all the visa stampings. Further he gave me one letter and asked me to sign after verifying the name and date of birth that were printed in it. I duly signed the letter after verifying. Next he walked through my N-400 application step by step and finally landed on the last page with no issues/comments. Lastly, I have been asked following 6 questions during Civic and English test.

1. What Group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?
2. Why did colonists fight the British?
3. What is the highest court in the United States?
4. What is name of the Vice President of the United States now?
5. Who makes federal laws?
6. How many amendments does the constitution have?

For the English test, he asked me to read the sentence: "Who can vote?"
And he asked me to write the answer sentence: "Citizens can vote."

Finally IO grabbed N-652 form and put the tick mark on the box against Congratulations and informed me that I should be able to get a letter for oath ceremony in one or two weeks time. I promptly thanked IO and he showed my way out. Probably entire interview took about 15 minutes. Thats it.

I would like to mention that IO was very cordial and professional throughout the interview. It appears that USCIS is looking at nothing but a honesty and Good moral conduct from the applicants.

Surprisingly, my wife also had her interview with the same IO as I had. Infact IO mentioned my wife at the beginning that he had interviewed me some time back. Even my wife interview is eventless and she has been asked the following 6 questions on her Civic and English test.

1. The House of Representatives has how many voting members?
2. We elect a U.S. representative for how many years?
3. In what month do we vote for President?
4. Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now?
5. Who is the "Father of Our Country"?
6. Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s. ?

Also she has been asked to read and write two simple sentences. Finally he gave her N-652 form after checking out the box on Congratulations and he also assured her that oath ceremony shall be provided to both of us at a same place and time.

Sorry for the lengthy writing and hope it will help someone prepare for their interview. Also thankful to all those who gave valuable suggestions at various point of time of this citizenship process.

Congratulation!!!!
What information did you provide N400 Part 6 B?
Did you wrote “none”
Did the officer ask any question how do you support yourself?
Did he ask for your tax papers?
**your info will help other Nonworking persons.

I did write on 6 B of N-400 as only one employment that I had in 2008. IO just asked me whether still I have that employment. I replied him "NO". Then he just orally asked Whether I am paying taxes regularly. I replied him "Yes".
Apart from GC, DL and passport , IO hasn't asked anything else. I carried with me lot bunch of supportive documents though.
