I am a GC holder I am getting married next month, and I am eligible for applying for citizenship in Feb. Can someone give me tips/suggestions as to what I can do to bring spouse over during the interim period till I get my citizenship.

And is it true that as soon as get my citizenship my spouse should get her green card?

Any help on this will be really appreciated.

thanks
Srinivas

First of all, yes, your spouse has to get GC if she wants to live here w/ u. The best option for you is wait until you get your citizenship then apply GC for your wife. Why? because if you apply her GC with your GC, it will take a while until she got her visa available to her. But if she married USC, she doens't have to wait.

Nothing. There is no "interim period" - in the eyes of the law you are either a permanent resident until the instant you take the oath, after which you are a citizen.

No, as soon as you get your citizenship you can file an Immediate Relative I-130 for her.

Thank you guys.

So reading from the posts for DCF, looks like the best case scenario is 3 months to get the GC for spouse?
I have a Spanish friend in US who got married to a citizen and got his GC in less than 2 months...is this different for every country?

And till she gets her GC is it easy to get a visitor visa for her? Or its better to try for F1 or H1?

thanks

it depends on individuals.

Visitor visa is difficult. F1 too. Only H1/L1 is the way to go if she wanted to be on non-immigrant.

HI,

My sister is in a similar situation .she is married to US GC holder who is about to get his citizenship in few months .she already has US visitor visa with multiple entries and she is also a canadian permanent resident .we need to know is it safe for her to travell to US (not revealing that her husband is about to get his citizenship ) to visit her relatives .and as soon as her husband gets his citizenship he can file for her AOS I 130

YOU are in a similar situation ,about to bring your wife to US .I'LL be really thankfull to you if you can guide me .

thanks in advance
