CP\'ers who have got their Passports renewed in US.
I dont think the passport office in India will issue us the PCC\'s. They will ask us to get it from the place of issue i.e. US.
SO the PCC issued here might just work. What do u think?

Questions regarding Permanent Address in INDIA
In Section 2 in Miscellaneous services form, we need to fill
permanent address in INDIA.. My folks don\'t stay @ the address
I have put in my passport.. So do I need to put in my new
address in section 2 or my old address (mentioned in passport,

I went this morning to New York Consulate and submitted for PCC applications for me and my wife. You need to fill out Misc form , Fee $11, Passport photocopy and original passport. She gave me a phone number to call about in 30 days. I have some number on out passports that is the reference number for which I need to ask. Then they will tell you that your PCC is ready or not. If it is ready then you can collect it.
There are two options for original passport
1- when you are submitting your Misc form for PCC you can leave your passport with consulate, then whenever your PCC is ready just ask them and collect it in the evening time.
2- If you do not want to give your passport to consulate then take back at the time of submitting Misc form. Then whenever your PCC is ready( You need to call consulate) then you have to go in the morning time in between 9AM-11AM then submit your passport. Then finally you can collect your PCC in the evening with passport.
So basically it is your choice to keep Passport with consulate or not.
I think every body should be fine with this.

cp2001 - You could get your address changed in your passport to reflect your latest address in India.
Change of permanent address is a one day process.
I did it last week at CGNY and after I got my address changed, today I applied for the PCC

I got my GC through CP in OCT. My wife has a follow to join interview in Jan. Now, in her packet 4, there is a notice that she needs to get 2 PCCs, 1 from the police station and 1 from passport office.
Now it is not clear, which police station we need to go to for the PCC for my wife. She has been living all her life in Hyderabad. But since my wedding, (last 2 months) she has been living in Pune(My Indian address).
She has obtained a PCC from Hyderabad police station. But does she also have to obtain a PCC from Pune police station? At the time of the interview she would have lived in Pune for 3 months.
Gurus, please answer and help.

I spoke to the lady inn detail again today. I phrased and rephrased 4 times about the PCC from India.
Each time she has confirmed that the PCC from US COnsulate is sufficient for CP.
I repeat I asked her 4 times by phrasing and rephrasing if PCC from US is sufficient and each time she said Yes.
Regarding P4 by hand. She said we can do it even today. i.e any day from today.
I am planning to get it collected in 1-2 days.

Just to add to the pleasure, A friend of mine got this confirmed at the Mumbai consulate too. PCC from CGNY WILL be accepted. (He got an e-mail saying the same as well as he called up the consulate to confirm it)
