Dear All,

On August 07 i got my Green Card approved thru my employer. Since then I have traveled several times in and out of the country in the following dates:

Oct-18-07 thru Oct-22-07
Nov-14-07 thru Nov-29-07
Jan-17-08 thru Jan-21-08
Apr-09-08 thru Apr-23-08
Jun-20-08 thru Jun-20-08

In my last entry (jul-20-08) the Immigration Agent questioned me about my green card. He asked me:
How did i get my Green Card? thru my employer
What is the name of your employer? so i told him (sponsor for GC)
How long have you been with this employer? i told him i was a H1b holder since 2002 and GC holder for almost a year.
He asked where do i live and a couple questions more.

I have to travel for 10 days this coming December but I am a little nervious if whether this frequent traveling can be seen as abandonment of my residency..Should i be worried? Should I take additional papers to proof my
residency besides my green card? Considering the fact that I am not with the same employeer any more (since June 08)...If asked should i tell that i am with a different employer now?

Any advise will be greatly appreciatted!

Thanks!

Nothing to worry. I have been doing this since the past 2 years. Just say thay your employer (XYZ) wants you to travel for work. A letter from the employer stating why you are traveling would help if he needs to see something more.

I travel almost weekly for 2-3 days at a time due to work. Sometimes the officer will ask a few extra q's, but most of the time, they welcome me back home

Dont worry about it, just carry a letter from your employer with you at all times, and make sure you keep your home in the US

These kind of questions are usual and been asked even to USC, do not worry about that even if you have no job.

Keep in mind that as long you don't stay outside the US for long stretches at a time where they could question whether you live here, they can't really do much to you. With a green card you are not admitted into the US like a visa holder. You are merely a returning resident. You have a legal right to enter, whereas for visa holders its at their discretion to let them in or not. So don't worry.
