Hi Friends,
I wanted to start this thread to track our FOIA requests to VSC. Please do not print any personal details.
My details are as follows:
Applied for FOIA -- 25 Oct, 2004.
VSC Receipt Date -- 01 Nov, 2004.
Received Ctrl No in Mail -- 04 Nov, 2004.
Task Category -- Simple Task
Awaiting Papers.
Could it be possible for us to post these data and update the thread once we receive our papers.
Thanks everyony for your kind support in keeping track of FOIA.
As an FYI, observing this forum I have found the minimum date of receiving papers is 32 days from receipt and maximum is 65 days.
Thanks
Shankar123

I also applied on Oct 01, 2004 requesting I-140 papers. I have approved I-140 from attorney but wanted to learn about the FOIA process.

Got a letter back from USCIS (dated Oct 12, 2004) specifying that they have queued my request on simple track.

Hi USNYCUS,
That is great. I hope you will get your papers in the next 2 weeks. I talked with a lawyer before filing FOIA and he told me nowadays the time taken is 6-8 weeks. Not sure whether that is an honest statement. :D
BTW,
I calculated that during the month of october (by judging some control numbers) probably 300 requests were submitted.
Incidentally, would you be so kind to share the receipt date quoted on the letter from VSC with us? In this way, we can keep a pattern.
Thanks for keeping this tracking alive and moving.
Thanks

Purpose of FOIA

Is there any benefit in FOIA? Can it speed up the process? Any potential adverse impacts?

I got I-485 approval in a week after getting letter back from USCIS regarding FOIA.

I-485 ND: May 2003
I-485 AD: Oct 2004

Any news friend?
I tried to call Vermont asking for a status check but it did not work as the phone number is out of service. :)

Does anyone know the telephone number to track the FOIA requests? I have been waiting for the tracking number for the last 20 days.

There is no such number unfortunately. At least not that I know of. But Vermont has a rule per their website that they will respond by 20 working days.
