Fingerprinting and Name Check

Hello everyone!


I have a question about this subject. Is fingerprinting and name check done at the same time? are they separate in any way? When I call and they say "we sent it back to the agency on the 25th" does that mean name check and fingerprints?.....sorry but I just want to understand the whole thing better =) I'm not asking what it is, just if they are done together or not.

When you call the FBI, all they confirm is that FP results have been sent back to USCIS or not. FBI does not tell you if namecheck results have been sent back.
 
Oh I know that! Thanks I was just asking if that means my name was also cleared...and if the fingerprinting and name check is or not the same thing. I was under the impression that fingerprinting covers everything including the name check but I want to make sure that is the case.
 
I had to have my fingerprints done twice because of hard to read prints. I didn't know the fingerprints didn't pass the second time until the adjudicator told me at the interview! I was then told to get a police clearance before they can make a decision on my case. I went to the Sheriff's dept to get this done. They did a search by name only.
