"Does the background of the USC get checked when filing for GC for spouse? I have a misdemeanor from over 10 years ago - will that cause any problems?"

My husbands friend (pr)said his wife(usc) did not have to do the fingerprinting
only he had to do it!

Also he said he did not need to do the travel document and he ended up paying only $800 for the application process.(no lawyer) We were quoted $1400 approx.

what are the differences in prices you have paid.?

also are w2's sufficent for proof of income?

USC doesn't have to be fingerprinted when somebody else (including their spouses) is applying for citizenship or a GC.

ALso, USC's history doesn't have any effect on the LPR's ability to become a citizen or an immigrant's ability to get a GC.

Also he said he did not need to do the travel document and he ended up paying only $800 for the application process.(no lawyer)
when did he apply? right now his fee is $1,010 for I-485 and other forms total, plus $355 for I-130. The fee for forms (work permit, travel permit) are included in $1,010 fee and cannot be subtracted if he doesn't need any of them.
