EB1 Outstanding Research Tracker

Yesterday I just (for fun)called national customer service center to find out about my plastic card as there is no LUD after the approval. In the automated message I have been told that 30 days after the stamping if you don't receive the welcome notice or 60 after stamping if you don't receive a plastic card give us a call. Moreover, I recall reading somewhere in forum that after I-485 approval every one receives kind of a notice greeting your approval or welcoming notice from USCIS.

Thanks a lot, I was going to post the same link (found it with google)

For what I've seen, it's not uncommon to get the card one month after stamping. But it's not uncommon to go much longer, some people get one card but not the card for the derivative, etc. I don't see any structured tracker where you can get a more solid feel of what to expect. But what they told you makes sense (to contact them in either 30 or 60 days on one case or the other)

A new update on the waiting time from FP2 until Approval Tracker

Guys, I am changing jobs and moving soon. I don't know if I'll have time to update this again. If someone could please take over the tracker, that would help. Otherwise, we'll let it die. We can just add the bottomline waiting time here in the I-485 tracker header.

Here goes, in the meantime, not only the tracker but also an attached spreadheet (.xls format, created with OpenOffice)

* Added Colormix
* Added Open_sesame
* Both the average and the dispersion are the same, I think the figures are converging into a "meta-stable" result .

---------------------------------------
Colormix --- 12
skusa --- 14
laptop --- 21
ImmigrationCom --- 31
katvar --- 32
July02EB12 --- 32
Hueymeei --- 34
Waiting! --- 40
Kxw --- 35
Rajan --- 47
Mendieta --- 47
ea_ead --- 48
Open_sesame --- 50
CosmicDream --- 55
Slipj --- 56
Goodluck09 --- 61
Yygov --- 65
Mzgh --- 81
Gc-despo --- 112
----------------------------------------

The quick result: typical wait is (6.8 +/- 3.3) weeks, or between 3 and 10 weeks.

More precisely:
Average: 48 days
Standard Deviation: 23 days

Note:

*I give the results in the form MEAN +/- STANDARD_DEVIATION
* Of course, low sample statistics, but it gives an idea of what to expect ..

It's been 11 weeks for me since FP2 and nothing. About the same for agroy, 17 weeks for Barney and about 10 weeks for RPB8260. the_pandas and gegemon haven't had FP2 yet.
I think this is just another example that if your neighbor has 2 cars and you have none, statistics would say both of you have a car! (just kidding, of course, but the whole wait is so frustrating, esp. after you see all those people from june and even august getting approved in the other fora)

On a more serious side, good luck "guapo de las pampas" thanks for your efforts keeping this forum. I personally think those of us who remain unaproved should keep it alive. It's really not that hard and gives us a good idea of how things progress within our smaller EB1 category. It's also a good source of support and positive news everytime there's an approval.
Should we keep it guys? :D

Keep the forum

Antonl

I agree, it is all very, very frustrating, but one day soon all that frustration will be gone. Hang in there buddy!!

I think this forum has been worthwhile and those who remain should maintain it if the wish. Good luck Mendieta, and thanks for all your work here.

RPB8260

Thank you guys !

Thanks antonl, rpb8260,

Thank you guys for the good wishes

I'll try to keep contri buting. The only thing I can't promise is to keep the trackers going, at all (I485 and FP2). As for your waiting times after FP2, true, frustrating. What can I say. It is also true that having info at hand helps you stay on top of your case, start case inquiry when it is due, etc. As a whole, these things tend to help.

Oh well, I really really wish you guys are off the hook soon. Let's hope !

Cheers,

passport stamping done

As an update, my passport has been stamped as well and hopefully the wait for the actual card will not take too long.

Only small problem was that they refused to stamp my wife's since she didn't have an individual appointment. We tried to make one for her but the Infopass system could not be reached for days and when it came back up, just long enough for me to make mine, it consistently refused to make one for my wife saying "you can not make more appointments". We figured this meant our cases would be processed jointly. That assumption was incorrect.

She was made to wait until they "found" the time to stamp hers (2 minutes of works). This as a warning to others who have scheduled appointment.

Oh well, all's well that ends well!

de_prof - congrats with your passport stamping! Are you in this tracker under a different alias or not at all?

That's right, once you make an infopass appointment from a computer it leaves some kind of trail (not cookies exactly) on your PC that prohibts you from making a second appointment. When I made appointments I used two PC's (even though I used the same modem and router!) and was able to get them the same day same time. It is annoying! I guess some service centers allow you to go with just one appointment, but others do not. So people trying to make two appointments please try using two machines.

On another note...
Mandeita,
Good luck in your new job!

A new update on the waiting time from FP2 until Approval Tracker

Guys, I am changing jobs and moving soon.

Hi! Medntida!
Sorry for asking personal question. Are you planning move out current work(sponsoring) place or getting promoted in same place?
I am asking this because I too plan to change the job from my present sponsor to somewhere else. People are debating about this topic(right here in this forum) whether is it safe to change the job with in a year or not after the approval? Because AC21 applies only to pending cases not to approved one( that is the arugement nay sayers are using it).

What is your opininon?
Thanks

Rajan

I'm confused - I thought once I-485 is approved, you are completely free to move, even outside your existing field of expertise? AC21 becomes irrelevant.

Congrats to everyone who got approved recently. I hope the activity means that finally someone will remove the dust from my file and notice that they haven't sent me an FP2 notice yet...

On a related note, I have completely exhausted all the expletives in my vocabulary; so if anyone has any other names to call the USCIS, BCIS, INS, Whatever, please help me :)

I guess until then, I'll continue my usual routine --- look towards the people on this board for support and keep an eye out for the mailman.

Hi Rajan,

My opinion is that once you get approval (and stamping), you don't need AC21 anymore. The stamp itself acts as a "green-card". As far as I know there is no technical difference in your status, whether you have the stamp or the actual card. Moreover, when you get stamping done, they destroy all your EAD's AP's ... that's because you don't need them anymore, you are a permanent resident, and the stamping is a certificate for that.

Cheers,

Hi! Mendita
The question is not whether stamping would serve as green card or not. Do we have to be faithful to the Institution which sponserd our I-140? -like working for them for reasonble time after I-485 approval.
Because in paper our pettion is approved for future job offer. For example NIW or EB1A has no such condition.

Hi Rajan

I read the thread. All I can say is: my lawyer thinks that after getting the green card you can do whatever you want. And he never talked about waiting 1,2, 6 months. I personally think that USCIS would not bother you for this sort of thing after the GC is approved. But that's my opinion.

Moreover, AC21 states that you do not have to stay with your employer until approval of I-845. You can change (with the restriction of staying on the same field) six months after filing. Why would this freedom be taken away from you after GC approval is beyond me. But then again, your attorney's opinion is always more relevant

Cheers,

My attorney also uses the same logic saying that I can change job! What bothers me is these debates!!
You are right! May be I am too too cautious to bother about citizenship which is five years away!
Anyway I am going to change the job!

Well, you know, there are all sort of debates. I have seen people discuss, very seriously, whether or not checking your status online frequently is bad for your case. This just paranoia.

The point I guess is, the most important opinion is your lawyer's. And the second is what you make up out of talking to people, reading posts, etc. There will always be posts saying "don't do X" No matter what X is. You have to make your own conclusion from the mess.

In short, I would change jobs. I am actually doing it. And I don't feel like cheating or anything. 3 years ago, when all this started, I didn't have any particular plans of leaving my employer. That's all that counts IMHO

One more thing, I am not interested on citizenship, but this should not be an issue for you either. People stay here as illegal immigrants for 10 years, hiding from the law, working in burger king's, cleaning bathrooms, and then they get paid a tribute with a citizenship just because they could take it for ten years. It is brutal. But that's what it is. Oh well

Cheers!
