2) yes they do
3) it will help, but it's not strictly necessary

bring the notice, photo ID, EAD o r passport

Just corrected my approval date - it's 9/8/04, not 9/25/04. I think it was changed by accident. Sorry RPB8260, I think that throws off your stats a bit.

Could you please add your case to the tracker ?

This is the way it should be for everyone BTW. A few months lengths. Of course you were the exception more than the rule. Most people still wait for years (1-2-3). But very clearly USCIS is trying to reduce backlogs and all. I hope they understand that it is unfair to keep people in limbo for years. THey have the right to say yes or no to the petitions, but they have to be prompt.

Guys/Gals, building on rpb8260's analysis. Here are the stats from the tracker, for waiting time from FP2 until Approval. Only approved cases are considered.

sorry mzgh, didn't mean to let you down :)

I forgot to mention, I only included _actually_approved_ cases. I'll edit the post. Otherwise, by construction, the estimate will be biased towards shorter waiting times.

The issue is that there are 2 important dates. Your FP2 and the current processing time. You are still ahead of the latter, so there isn't much you can do. In customer care they'll tell you to wait for the current processing time to pass your RD.

The only thing I can think of it to call the FBI number and verify that at least they sent your FP2's to USCIS...

Just go to the last version of the tracker, press the "quote" button to reply quoted and follow the instructions on the tracker header. If it doesn't work, just post the line you would like, something like:

I called the FBI FP number. They treated me ok, they told me that they sent the results of both my wife's and mine the same day we got the FP2's. Not only that, but they also told me that my wife's FP's were readable, which is a big relief (if you remeber my post a couple days ago, it was very likely tht my wife would need Fp3 because her FPs are sort of faint ).

So, it looks like I am on the waiting room with you guys.

Hi RPB !

No. neither mine nor my wife's. It still says 2002, from the FP1 era !

In fact, take a look at this

In short, there isn't much of a trend. Sometimes they change it when they send the notice, sometimes when they get the FBI's check back (same day of the FP's most times). Sometimes they don't change it at all.

More in general, the USCIS online info is at best shaky. More properly, they don't post wrong information, but they update your info by hand, and lots of times they just don't do it. In other words, don't assume that nothing is happening in you case just because you don't see any changes online.

My LUD updated on 9/24/04 with the changed message that finger print received and processing resumed. The LUD again changed on 09/27/04 without any change in message. My finger print sceduled date was actually on 11/02/04, but did it the very next day I receved the notice. Going through the postings here It takes from 7 days to 90 days to get approval after the 2nd finger prints.

My LUDs (for I-140 and I-485s) have NEVER been updated. They still say Dec 22nd 2002 when the receipt notices were generated. They have never been updated through 2 FPs and 2 sets of APs/EADs. I have very little hope of ever seeing an online update and will have to rely on the old paper way. BTW, I talked to someone at the USCIS Customer Service Center and they said that the online stuff isn't updated automatically but that the examiner has to make those changes to your status info manually. Even the LUD changes without any changes in the status message occur due to the manual input of something. She also mentioned that some examiners are really good about it and others never update anything until the final approval.

This is very similar to a USCIS Customer Care person told me, and also what my lawyer says ... and even what experience shows ! Thanks for the info !
 
Received FP notice..

Dear friends,
I have received FP1 notice my spouce's FP is on 10-23-04 and mine is 11-2-04. The problem is I have not done my medical at the time I did my I485, so what will be the next thing I will have to do? My lawer is telling me to first go for FP and then he will tell me what to do.. but I am asking advice from you people that can I do my medical and send it during this day? I dont understand what to do? Is it going to take long if I will do FP first and then go for medical and submit it then!!!

I have to disagree with your lawyer. Why on the hell would you not go right now for medical ? There is no reason whatsoever not do it (AFAIK). On the other hand, delaying the medical can delay your approval. Here is the scenario I have in mind:

* uscis is trying to approve things fast
* your 140 is approved

what if you do medicals ... now, tomorrow. When thye get the FP's, they'll probably approve your 485 right away. Otherwise, they could:

* return your case to the waiting list pile on some desk
* issue an RFE requesting medicals

Any of these things would slow you down

After our FP2 (9/9/04), on 09/16 my spouse's online status was updated not mine. Why not mine??? I am worried, though, so many of us in the same situation!
