Hi Barney

If I were you I wouldn't extend the H1B, unless you are in a very particular situation. That is, you are almost approved (your approval should be coming soon), you don't actually need an H1B to work or even change employer. Why would you spend time and money on H1 paperwork ? The only advantage is that if your GC application would go down, which at this point is almost impossible (unless there is some complication I don't know of), then you could use the H1B status to keep working for your employer. So, just a little bit of additional peace of mind at a high cost. I am usually pretty conservative with these decisions, butI didn't bother renew my own H1 ...

I feel mendieta is correct! I too planning to use EAD abandoning H1B1. Infact by using EAD one can save remaining H1B1 time that could be utilized later, in case 485 gets rejected ( never going to happen).
It is discouraging to know that your EAD application didn't trigger the 485
approval. Today I took photograph,gave finger print and e-signed for EAD e-filing at Application supprot center hoping that it might trigger 485 approval.

A news from me and also a question !

Well, while I am still waiting for mine, my wife's interview date has been scheduled in Dec. since her case has been transfered to local in Aug. The only doc required is my employment letter showing salary rate.

But, I did not get one for my daughter of 7 year old. Anyone has an idea about this? Does this mean that my daughter just need to present with my wife and does not need a separate letter at all?

I am still waiting for mine. I would have been good if my case also got transfered ..... :(
 
LUD updated today

Allright, my wife's LUD and mine were both updated today - no change on the online message at all. Most likely it means nothing, but hey!

How about you call Customer Care and ask them ? They are pretty friendly, if not always all that useful. But they might have the answer for your daughter. Perhaps she doesn't need an interview, the same for you. May be they approve everything right after your wife's interview, I'll keep my fingers crossed

Exactly. No big deal, we know they are so inconsistent that many times you only get notifications on the mail. No email, no online LUD change, no online changes at all ...

And the tragicomical part is that nobody knows what a "silent" LUD means. In the case of my I-140 approval, LUD changed on the approval day and that was that. But I saw lots of LUD changes with no apparent consequences. Oh well ...

Ooops! Gone back to Oct.6 update now!!! Anyway I called customer service and started the case status inquiry while it was on Oct21 update that is I485- June 2003.

LUD Changed TWO days in a row !

Hey, My LUD (and my wife's too) changed today, to the current date (Oct 21). Yesterday it also changed to the current date (Oct 20). Online message still the same (we will mail you a decision bla bla bla).

Are these people trying to kill me ? Are they playing with my feelings ? Ah ? ;)

what does that mean?

Hello,

I just got an email from USCIS. Here is the message I got:

On August 30, 2004, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I wrote several emails to congressman and senators requesting the 2nd FP before. But I didn't call the customer service center directly myself. Maybe that is "my request for more info concerning my case".

Also, my 2nd FP notice was issued that day.

My concern is, why the online status was just updated today? Obviously the update happened more than a month ago. Guess I was irritated about the "more information concerning your case" -- sounds like RFE...

Could you please clarify a bit ? You have a big NO on the I-140 Column, does this mean that your I140 hasn't been approved ? Or is it misplaced, and you mean that you had no second fingerprints ?

From the VSC EB1-OR I-140 forum it looks like your I-140 was approved simulataneously - is that correct? Did you file concurrently?
