Hi guys,

Since my asylum case is pending i will need to renew my EAD which will expire in Sep. My questions are do i need to pay for renewal fee? Because i dont need to pay at the first time. And how many months do i need to send my renewal application to USCIS in adv? Do i need to send back my expiring Card or just foto-copy.?

Thanks a lot.

yes you have to pay a fee and they suggest that you apply 90 days before the expiration date.

Correct me if I am wrong. I don't think you have to pay a fee for renewing. When I first applied when my asylum case was pending, I did not have to pay the fee. When I renewed, I was already granted asylum and I did not have to pay the fee. I was approved in a month. If you apply online, it is quicker and after filling up all the information, it will tell you if you need to pay a fee or not.

unfortunately you have to pay when you RENEW. Your first ead as an asylum applicant is free. Your first ead as an approved asylee is also free. But you have to pay for renewals. $340 is a lot of money to many folks.

if you have been granted withholding of removal you renewals are free.

do not ask me to explain why. these rules are not logical.
