EAD/AP renewal...

My AP/EAD expires in Nov'04 and am planning to apply for renewals shortly. I am so thoroughly confused as to should I apply myself or go through the attorney to save some dough. What happens if I get RFE, what happens if the application takes over one year, is it better to go through the attorney in these cases. If I apply, should I apply online or paper? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Applying for EAD/AP extension is a very simple process, you dont need a lawyer for that unless you want to just spend 750 to 1000 bucks.

I did it and any one could do it.

The documents required are :

EAD

• 2 photos which fits INS requirement with A# and name written with pencil on back.
• A check $120.00 for I-765 renewal fee made in the name of "Immigration and naturalization service"
• Original Form I-797 D (from last EAD)
• I -765 Renewal Application
• A copy of last EAD(front and back)
• A copy of Form I-94 Departure Record (front and back)
• A copy of I-485 Receipt Notice
• A copy of last I-765 Receipt Notice
• Marriage Certificate for secondary applicant.
• Color copy of your drivers license

AP
• 2 photos which fits INS requirement with A# and name written with pencil on back.
• A check $110.00 for I-131 renewal fee made in the name of "U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services "
• I -131 Renewal Application
• A copy of Form I-94 Departure Record (front and back)
• A copy of I-485 Receipt Notice
• A letter explaining the reason to grant you AP.
• A copy of last EAD (front and back)
• A color copy of driver’s license (front and back) or a copy of passport front page showing date of birth and photo.
• Marriage Cetificate for secondary applicant.

Apply 5 to 6 months before your current EAD / AP expires. I went for Paper application, i think they both take the same time. However the electronic application will require you to go to the local UCIS office for finger printing.

Dont worry you got plenty of time to apply. The application forms are simple to fill.

Hi, I am filing AP/EAD myself. Its no big deal. My only question is should i mail my spouse ead and my ead renewale application together or should i mail them seperately. Same thing with AP. ??

I know of some one who mailed his and his wife's EAD and Ap documents all in one envelope. I think its ok to do that. Its better to write seperate cover letters for your applications and your wife's applications and bundle each application seperately with paper or folder clips and put them in the same envelope.

How to fill AP renewal application

Dear all

I try to do the AP renewal by myself. In the form, there is one field called "Class of Admission", what does it mean? and what I should put there.

Also do I need to put anything in part 8 as I am living in US, and there is no need to receive the AP document in other counties. The document is confusing....

I applied for EB2 employment GC, my I-485 was filed in May 2002.

Thanks a lot for your help!!!!

Is it legal to use the approved EAD from employer A and work for employer B completely

----EAD is based on your I-485 pending, EAD does NOT belong to any employer. you can use EAD with A B C D E F G...Z at same time

Please note that Fee has been increased for AP & EAD from May01 2004. So please check in the INS site for the Fee information.

Thanks guys for all the support and help! It is very reassuring. I will apply for the renewals myself now.

Can I combine the fees for AP/EAD together? Considering we are bundling mine and spouses's application in one envelope but separated by folder clips. So the fees would be in two checks one for mine and another for my wife, but the EAD/AP fees would be combined per appilcant. Is that okay?

i think you should send separate checks for both EAD & AP for both your wife and yourself.

Why I am asking is because my lawyer had sent combined checks per person for the entire concurrent application earlier which included fees for 140, 485, AP, EAD, and that was okay, so can I do the same for EAD/AP renewal? That's my question.

I would say its better to send seperate checks for each application for EAD and AP for yourself and your wife (total 4 checks). I did this and also my lawyer asked me to do this the first time i applied for EAD through him.

Also make sure you send personal checks, this will help you to know your EAC number as soon as your application is accepted as BCIS will print your EAC number on the back of the check.

Thanks guys, that helps! EAC # on the back of check is a neat information to remember.

E-file might be better

if you are going to do it yourself, why not e-file on line and that way each file has a receipt?

got EAD REF by email notification

I feel so wired, I included all documents listed by AK2003, and it's my second one, spouse's 140 was approved a year ago. I never worried about it to approve. So, today when I got the email, I feel so upset, don't konw what's wrong? Please suggest what kind of REF they want, in TSC. Thanks!

I am skeptical about efile because I will be loosing half a day in photo, fingerprints etc. and then send send supporting documents by mail also. Besides that there's no efile for AP, so have to mail that anyway, so might as well mail both of them. That's my take on it. e-file should be totally paperless, right now it is not.

Efiling is fine but you have to remember that you need to go to the local center to get the finger prints done.

The RFE's i have seen are :

1. Photos not up to their standard or unclear.
2. Copies of your documents not clear. Did you send them color copies or drivers license and passport.
3. Marriage certificate for the dependent application.

Who got the RFE you or your spouse?.

Thanks AK2003

the RFE is for me, the secondary applicant, I do mail them the 140 approval notice, and my previous EAD, my and spouse's 485 reciept, I didn't send the marriage certificate because my first one has been approved, this one is just for renewal. Let's see what they want. Will keep you guys posted after I get the letter. Thanks again. :(
