I’m now holding H1B and with I-485 pending status. I want to change a job that requires candidates with green card. May I qualify for this position by just showing them my EAD card when I start to work register with HR? Is there any problem by doing this way? When the hiring manger asked about immigrant status, can I say I’m green card holder to secure the position (actually holding EAD now)? THANK YOU FOR SHARING.

No, EAD is not a green card. You're misrepresenting yourself and that could have consequences in your application.

Assuming your I140 is approved. I485 pending over 180x days. You are legal to change employer by invoke AC21 with your EAD present.
As far as I know, holding an EAD is legally to work and your employer shouldn't be any problem to accept the EAD.

Just don't know how HR interprets EAD? I got I-140 proved in 2005, and I-485 pending for about 5 months (may be no need to wait for 180 days because of EB2/NIW SELF-PETITIONED). The hiring manager talked about green card status requirement during the phone call, I just said yes to avoid more confusion about my status if I mentioned EAD. I don't think they know too much EAD.

You can not say you are GC holder with pending application, I read it somewhere that this is a violation. As RealCanadian recommend just say I do not need visa and that is exactly what I did. I changed employer after 2 weeks from receiving the EAD.

help for clarification

the company applied is aircraft company and it uses "US citizens" or "green cards holders" in their ads for candiate qualification requirements. Is it the same between terms "green card holder" and "person with legal status to work". Just confused. Please help.

Hi,

When you hold EAD you cannot go for jobs whose minimum eligibility is Citizenship/GC.
