DV Lottery 2012 lawyer action in the US Department of State

I don't understand what is going on here.
I have just been on this lawyers website, and the latest posts do indeed seem to support the original winners. On the other hand, items dated may7th and may10th are calling for the dv lottery to be redrawn. Another two faced oportunistic lawyer?????? or someone who wants to do the right thing by all parties?

I'm not the attorney in question, I just post this information that may be helpful for the winners. The ''items'' is dated May 17th

People is it fake or not?

We 22000 are VICTIMS NOT CHEATERS

VICTIMS ??? You just made the whole world laugh !!!!

How about others that did not win.. why should you get the advantage of the system error while other could not get the advantage ?

if US government let you win, it means the rest are the victims because the results are not fair... if you were not picked at the first place, you won't say you are victims... you will cheer for the re-draw

get over youself !!!

I really hope the voices of the 22k people will be heard.

How about the voice of others that did not get pick up because of system error ?
why you should benefit from the system error and not others ??
move on !!! life is cruel... and it goes on.. if you keep whining, it will be so hard on you

Okay, I may have been a bit negative before, but I have been on the lawyer's site, and he is doing a good job getting the word around, and sending letters to the right people. So I'm going to do the questionare now,(but without the birthdates!)

PS. I wouldn't put him next to Jesus...but by Jesus! if he gets us a 2012 case number, I'll frame his picture on my wall!

Also, I don't get what the problem is with the 22,000 keeping their opportunity? Everyone has their fair chance in the redraw, and the original winners can just be issued case numbers after the redraw selectees. What's the problem with that?

Why the whole world laugh ?? You know you will never feel like the ex winner because you did not hearted by what happened , when your hand i the water it is not like when it is on the flam ,
I you cancelled ur master exam to send the paper early or sold you car or even just had some moments of happy dreaming and then the redraw happened you will understand why i say victims
But it seems you are not So plz dont try to give us explanations or philosophy lessons ,or do not try explain why we are wrong or why you are right , We all know that we must respect KCC decisions , But at least leave us speak and do not be annoying to others
thx

Yes you will become cheaters.....you can't help it getting the NL and were to believe you were a winner, but if you get it while something was wrong, than it is called cheating!

Just as many people who thought they won the lottery (money) because the wrong numbers were printed in the newspaper and than found out they didn't win...they never received a penny.

The same counts for people who by mistake get thousands of dollars/euro's in their account due to a bank error...do you think they get to keep it or are able to sue for it.

Basically all people who are still going on about it show what they will do when they find money or by accident get money in their account....they shut up and spent it likes it is theirs.

Doesn't sound so sweet when you hear it this way...

Now you went from a person I felt sorry for, to a person who is showing to be a thief and not wanting to do things the legal way....you rather cheat others out of a chance.

I respectfully disagree. There are many past cases where the lottery(money) was discovered to have used fault random number generators, and some smart people correctly predicted the next winning numbers and wone huge sums of money. The lottery honored those wins, AND corrected their algorithms. It is not the fault of the winner, but that of the selector (however faulty the process may be).

Again, you are comparing apples and oranges here; not the same thing at all.

In basic law, one (offerer:) ) makes an offer (in this case providing and soliciting entries to the lottery); then another one (offeree) accepts the offer (By entering the lottery); Offerer accepts offeree's acceptance of the initial offer by sending an official acceptance letter. Offerer, cannot turn around and rescind the original offer without offeree's consent.

Oferrer made a mistake, s/he ahs to correct it without prejudicing the offeree.

Sam

PS: You may want to google Lottery mistakes when they didn't use pseudo-rando generators, and ended up paying winners a lot of money from their machines, eg Keno, etc

...

I also forgot to add: However, if Offerer realised s/he made a mistake and withdraws offer (official letter) before Offeree sees the letter, then the offer can be rescinded without prejudicing the offeree because offeree does not know that the offer was made in the first place, and has not grounds before the law.

Thats my understanding.

Perhaps you can show court case outcome proof of what you trying to sell here as the truth!

So far we only hear on the news or in the paper or have seen people on tv who got ZIP, nothing !

My point was not to show that I am involved in the (a) court case. I was simply shooting down your argument about lottery (money) mistakes. The bottom line is, if a lottery (money) makes a mistake and releases its winning numbers, it cannot turn around and rescind the winnings (at least it has never happened as far as I know; in all cases that I have come across, the lottery paid up, AND then corrected theri mistake).

I am not sure what is going to happen in this case, but I am sure notified winners (i.e. those who checked and found out that they won) have a case here.

Oh, here is an example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_de_Montr%C3%A9al
http://www.blackjackforumonline.com/content/how_to_beat_keno.htm
In April 1994, Daniel Corriveau managed to win $600,000 CAD playing the Casino de Montréal keno. He was able to pick 19 of the 20 winning numbers three times in a row. Corriveau claims he used a computer and Chaos Theory to discern a pattern in the sequence of numbers. However, it was later found that the sequence was easy to predict because the Casino was using an inadequate electronic pseudorandom number generator. In fact, the electronic keno machine was reset every morning with the same seed number, producing the same sequence of numbers every second. Corriveau received his winnings after investigators cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Of course he won...nothing was wrong. Every time the computer was reset and the same issue occured...That is Casino's mistake not to check it better.

This is a one time error and if you read what the DV lottery rules and regulations are than you know this is a different situation.

In all cases when newspapers print the wrong number nobody got the money other than the real winner....a misprint or computer error which clearly is proven to be an error, is not making any one a winner.

Even people have been convicted after wrongly receiving money in their bank account and spending it and not willing to pay back...A bank error doesn't make you the owner of the money.

You compare apples with potatoes.

Having a an unusual amount of money in the bank account is obviously suspicious and spending that money just dumb. Thats not the case with the results of the lottery and the winning notification the people got.

Can someone explain what someone expect this thread to lead...?
This won't change anything, instead of puting too much energy in a forum for a lottery, why don't you spend that energy working & planing your life without wishing too much for a random lottery?
The results have been void.. tough luck but now move on... It's not like a green card will get you rich or anything, you would have to compete against the us resident to find a job, house ect.. Lot & lot of peopels win the lottery to just go back home after a few years... & also you were not even sure to get the green card, the majority of the selectees do not even qualify to beging with that's why every years peoples with a very high case number get the interview...
You won then you lose... oh well, plan your life.. Me I was among thoses 22k, the result have been void.. screw it, I have my plan set allready which is study in canada (got the welcom letter)... so i do not spend time in useless petitions & lawsuit ect... Do the same because what will you do when most of the 22k won't be selected on july 15...? What cry all day long because instead of working on your life you put all your hope in a lottery...?

You don't seem to understand. The Visa lottery results were voided because the DOS felt that the process was NOT random enough. The Keno player I cited above, won because of the errors in the random number generator. The lottery, that runs the casino, carried out an investigation, corrected their algorithm AND gave the man his money. They DID not deny him his money because their algorithm was faulty. That is the point here :)

You are very WRONG here. No newspaper publishes lottery results. Thye always publish UNOFFICIAL lottery results. They have NO authority to publish lottery results. If they publish results as official AND there is a typo, they CAN be sued by a potential winner (The American way).

Even people have been convicted after wrongly receiving money in their bank account and spending it and not willing to pay back...A bank error doesn't make you the owner of the money.
Not the same thing as the lottery. There is no legal handshake between the bank and the account owner. In layman's terms, there was no offer, and acceptance of offer between the bank and the account owner. That makes your example irrelevant!

Well said. The outcome has caused me to do a honest evaluation of my life . I must say that my situation/country is not the worst in the world. Therefore, I chose to make the best of what I have, where I've lived all of my life and my achievements. Nevertheless, win or lose come July 15th, so be it!!

yes, add to that that most of the peoples who are crying are the ones who never went to the USA so they still picture it as the hollywood thing... It's kind of understanble.. me the first time i went there I was exited espoecialy at the border in buffalo... spent 15 days then went back to montreal... the next time I went there, It was like normal, like going to another city because i allready tasted what usa feel like... now If i lose, i study & go there like every month or 3 weeks (i will study so it is not like working ect...) & if i win, i will try my best to move there after my university because i do not want to jeopardise all my future over some rushing immigration...
