That shows the case is yet to be formally approved in that case. It is not unusual for the IO to tell an applicant at the end of their interview that they were going to approve their case, only for them to end up waiting for a long period for that approval to come through because USCIS was still conducting some final check, or the IO’s supervisor needed more time to review the case and the IO’s approval decision.
I don’t believe there’s something any lawyer can do about this situation, but if it makes the OP feel better, they can certainly engage in a legal consultation

No issue. You may be asked for a copy of the USC child’s birth certificate as at the time of your interview (assuming the current processing “pause” gets lifted).
I have no idea - I typically do not analyze visa progression rate in the VB.
New interviews will be scheduled, however no visas will be issued for now.

I don’t remember exact dates anymore but my interview were at the beginning of September, fingerprints were taken in the middle of July. That really depends on your USCIS office. Some gets your interview right away some makes you wait. However this year they halt the program all together so I don’t know if they keep continue to give interviews as they did before.
If the application is denied because the fiscal year ends, would that have any impact on F1 status or traveling abroad?

A declared immigrant intent could impact the possibility of being admitted or re-admitted to the US as a non-immigrant.
Does that kind of denial automatically show up to a CBP officer during inspection at the airport or would they have to dig deeper to see it? Also have you seen any similar cases where someone on valid F-1 status was refused entry at the port of entry because of a denial like this? Sorry if these questions are a bit much. This is coming from some anxiety around this situation.
I have no way of knowing what the CBP officer immediately sees upon passport scanning. Yes, I’ve heard of folks with valid NIV being denied admission at the POE - admission is typically not guaranteed for anyone with the exception of a USC or LPR. Admission refusal (if it were to happen) will not be based on the reason for the AOS denial, it will be for a demonstrated immigrant intent which is not in alignment with the conditions governing a NIV that is not a dual intent visa.
