DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

So senator’s offfice got a response on July 2 Here it is:
“Thank you for your inquiry on behalf of your constituent, Nataliia Rus, regarding the status of Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

USCIS service records confirm that the I-485 application was received on March 3, 2025. The case is under the jurisdiction of the Newark field office. It has been assigned to an adjudicating officer and is currently pending review. Once further action is taken, a decision or notice of action will be sent to the address of record. Please inform the constituent to keep their address current with USCIS.

We hope this information is helpful. If we may be of further assistance, please let us know.”

I would like to point out that I asked them again three days ago to follow up on a possible interview. The senator's office said that they couldn't help me right now, but if I didn't hear from USCIS by August 30, they would re-inquire about our case. The congressional office also made a request, but it was a long time ago. The response from USCIS was exactly the same as the response to the senator.I reached out to Congressman few weeks ago again , but look like they just ignore us .
If your senator’s office got a response less than a month ago, I’m not surprised they’re asking you to wait for a while before they can initiate a follow up inquiry. You just have to remain patient for now.

Hello Mom.

I sent my AOS package on June 12th (Dallas lockbox) and received a receipt confirmation on June 16th. I then got scheduled for a bio on July 7th, which I did, and there were no updates ever since. Is it time for me to try to initiate a congressional inquiry or should I wait in order not to waste this attempt? Thank you!

I don't want to scare myself, but I'm just curious. Has it ever happened that they didn't invite for an interview at all, and then they just didn't make it to the end of the fiscal year and the application was denied ? I know they can approve without an interview, but can they deny without an interview without even giving the person a chance ?

Which FO has jurisdiction over your case?

p.s. can you add your case to the Timeline spreadsheet?

Yes. Yes, an interview doesn’t have to happen in order for an application to get denied. If you read back on other posts on this thread (which is always a good idea to do), you’ll come across one or two case recently denied without any interview

Hi Good Morning,
I have the asylum pending, TPS and EAD based Asylum, and SSN.
My DV case was already approved but I have not received physical card yet. After I get the card, Does anyone knowC
1. How can I withdraw the asylum application?
2. Do I also need to terminate or withdraw TPS or can I keep it with green card? (It will expire on Nov 2025)
3. How about EAD based asylum? (Expire until 2029) Can I leave it like that without using it?
4. I forgot to request new SSN on i-485 application, Can I go to SSA and update to unrestricted card? Current SSN got from my school, So it is with restricted with DHS approval.

If I request new SSN, Can they find out that I used to work with Asylum EAD for about 6 months or can they just print it?

1. Write to the office with jurisdiction over your asylum requesting to withdraw it. The case will eventually get denied/cancelled once USCIS makes the connection about your already being a LPR even if you do not write to withdraw it, however formally withdrawing the application is recommended.
2. TPS is automatically terminated upon becoming a LPR as you can only hold one valid status.
3. The card is automatically invalid upon becoming a LPR since a LPR does not require an EAD card for work.
4. Visit your nearest SSA building with your GC to request a replacement SSN card without DHS restrictions on it.

You will not be requesting a new SSN as the issued SSN is for life, you’ll only be requesting a replacement SSN card. The SSA will not be checking for where or when you used your SSN, that is an issue between you and USCIS if you previously violated your status. Your entire immigration history can be reviewed at any time by USCIS, especially when you apply for naturalization. If it is deemed that your AOS application was erroneously approved, the GC can be revoked.

I would say wait awhile, your case is currently within a normal processing timeframe. Last year, San Antonio approved DV based AOS cases without interview

AOS Process Spreadsheet Update

For some weird reasons which I really do not understand, Google has decided to flag the AOS Process Spreadsheet as “suspicious”. It claims “the file contains links which may be used to steal people’s information”, which is not true. Based on this, I have no idea how much longer they will allow the file to remain up and running. I’ve followed the instructions provided by Google to request a review of the file, this however keeps returning a 404 error file not found message.

I currently have no idea of how or when this will be resolved. However, I’m putting up this post to reassure users the file is safe to use, and to disregard the warning sign if displayed when the file gets opened. I’m open to suggestions/ideas on how to get this resolved.

Hi Mom,

I wanted to update you on the status. Our interview is scheduled in Santa Ana at 6 a.m., which sounds interesting. We received an email, but the online account hasn’t been updated, and I haven’t received a call from them either. I believe this is normal, right?

We just need to print the documents again, organise the originals, and go to the interview. Also, I’m wondering, based on what I’ve heard from others, that they’re just told they will receive information later to confirm whether their case was approved or not. Do you think it’s okay to ask them directly if we’ve been approved or not?

Thanks a lot.

1. Quite normal.
2. Yes, it’s okay to ask. You can also ask if your background check clearance is still pending.

p.s. do add your case details to the Timeline spreadsheet.

I believe it's been triggered by the url shorteners in Timelines (DV21 using rb.gy specifically, if you hover over it it also shows the error). I'd start with converting that one in particular, but having explicit links for all of them would be a good idea too.

Hi Mom,
I received the denial letter. It was due to early filing. We were current on May, and we filed on April 28. They did not accept my explanation and just mentioned that DV is not eligible for early filing.
What can I show them as evidence?

I'll also note this as a cautionary tale for other people considering early filing. Doing it on the day your VB is released makes a lot of sense. You gain 6-7 weeks of processing time. Sometimes that makes a difference. On the other hand, filing it 48h before you actually become current, doesn't gain you anything. There's probably a point in between "almost two months" and "almost two days" where advantages of early filing diminish over the potential threat of being wrongfully rejected/denied.

Hi Mom,

I requested an access to edit the tracker. Meanwhile, could you pelase advise how long do you think it would make sense for me to wait for their response? Thank you!
