I don’t seem to recall the AOS process spreadsheet listing transcripts as one of the recommended documents to include with the AOS package. If you want to guard against overloading your application with unnecessary documents, stick with what is listed on the AOS process spreadsheet.Hi everyone, I came across a post from a DV-2024 AOS applicant. I wanted to get some opinions on my situation.
In 2018, I started a PhD program but realized it wasn’t the right path for me. I continued attending classes but failed two courses in Spring 2019 (I didn’t take the final exams) while passing one. That summer, I transferred to a master’s program at another university. My SEVIS record was transferred before I officially received the failing grades.
Since I failed two courses in my second semester, would the CO suspect that I wasn’t attending classes? Should I include an employment letter from the university where I took PhD courses (I was a TA) or pay stubs along with my PhD transcript to prove I was there?
I don’t want to overload my application with unnecessary documents, but I also want to make sure everything is clear. Would transcripts and diplomas be enough, or should I include extra documents (PhD I-20, TA employment letter, etc.)?Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
There was a lot going on with the referenced selectee’s case, not just a case of having failed a couple of courses. It seemed to me more or less like they had a messy immigration history, (probably fallen OOS at some point) and ended up overwhelming the IO with over 500 page documents in response to the RFE requiring them to demonstrate they never fell OOS.I can't seem to add the link to the post I mention in my original comment. I get a spam warning. But it was posted by user Plus19 in page 226 of the DV2024 AOS tread.
As far as I know, black and white are totally fine. Because we are sending copies of every document, no one cares if it's color or BW.Do all the copies of our i-485 paperwork need to be in color? Or just notarized black and white copies are okay?
The spreadsheet does not indicate the interview was waived by the end of the month in which it became current, or that it was quickly approved. You’re misinterpreting the data. They completed their bio in April following which there was no further movement on the case as it was in AP, until the interview got waived in September with the GC subsequently being ordered then.Looking at the DV2024 Timeline Spreadsheet, applicant 45 (2024 Houston) became current in April, and by the end of that month they had their interview waived. Looked like it was quickly approved as no further comments. However, their Green card was not issued until September. Is this normal?
1. There’s no requirement for colored copies.Do all the copies of our i-485 paperwork need to be in color? Or just notarized black and white copies are okay?
Same response as previously provided here applies in terms of determining if the employment letter with the stipend amount will be sufficient or not.Is it acceptable to include an employment letter as a PhD student as proof of stipend for financial self-sufficiency?
Right, my bad. I mixed up I-20 with transcripts. I got a bit nervous after reading that post. If I don't send the transcript then CO won't even know I failed those two courses. Thank you!I don’t seem to recall the AOS process spreadsheet listing transcripts as one of the recommended documents to include with the AOS package. Regarding early filing, indeed most of the answers are in the FAQs. Bottom line, there is some risk.Take a look at the FAQ tab of the AOS process spreadsheet.
Take a look at the “Early Filing” tab of the DV Tracker - Unique Cases spreadsheet (link in the signature section of any of my posts) where a couple of those have been complied as examples (bear in mind, it is not necessarily a comprehensive list).Regarding early filing, indeed most of the answers are in the FAQs. Bottom line, there is some risk.
1. Are there any statistics on rejection and denial rates from early filing?
2. If no stats, is it a common issue reported on this forum? Or it's considered kind of rare?
Hey, i just checked my uscis account and it updated a couple days ago to "new card is being produced" from "biometrics taken", I haven't received any interview letter... please tell me this means my interview got waived and I should be receiving green card soon? OMG i'm too excited!!
Thanks for this wonderful response. I had the same worry and my fears have been addressed.lol …
1. Your CN is very low, it should be current in October which is the official start of your FY. Unfortunately, your visitor’s status would have expired before you become eligible to file for AOS as a matter of fact (and not just before you complete the process). The earliest you can file for AOS is October (or August/September if taking advantage of early filing which I typically don’t recommend for folks who are current in Oct., first month of the FY). So if you’re eligible to apply for TPS before your current status expires, you can go ahead and file for TPS ASAP, since you can AOS from an approved TPS compared to asylum pending. In order to be successful with filing for AOS with TPS status, you will need to withdraw your pending asylum application though just so you know.
2. You can apply for AOS while the TPS application is pending, the AOS application however will not be approved until after the TPS application has been approved. I have no idea how long it takes for TPS applications to get approved, that is something you’ll need to research on your own though in order to decide if the switch will be worth it. In the other hand, it is not too late to withdraw the asylum application, depart from the US before your current status expires and process CP from your home base if able to safely do so.
3. Correct.
You can go for it whenever you want. Thanks for this wonderful response. I had the same worry and my fears have been addressed.
I wish to find out This:
- My CN is quite far AF202500066XXX I am hopeful looking at the VB released some days ago, when can I go for medicals while waiting?
Have you been able to get your receipt? I have also been waiting for it for over two weeks.Good morning.
When I checked the status of money order from USPS website, it says it has been cashed. (DV payment, $330)
Today I emailed KCC and they said "KCC has received your request however, the payment has not been received. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for payment processing."
Is there something wrong, or does it take some time that payment is processed even after the payment is cashed? I thought "payment cashed in" means it was processed.
