Go through the AOS process spreadsheet.Hi Simon, I need your help. My number just came out in the visa lottery. What should I do first?
I must send the entire package with the medical examinations also includedGo through the AOS process spreadsheet.
The answer to that question is in the FAQ section of the AOS process spreadsheet, so go through the spreadsheet as already recommended.I must send the entire package with the medical examinations also included
I can’t tell you if you’ll have enough time or not. It will largely depend on your background check clearance.Hello mom.
My case number is somewhere around AS89xx, considering it may get current in june/july. Is 3-4 months enough time for my case to be adjudicated? I have been through past timeline sheets i just wanted your opinion.
I am personally against early filing because in case your application landed on junior officer hand , there is a risk it might be denied where you will have to do medical again plus pay filing fee .....Good evening ,It looks like my turn(CN)will come in February. When can I send the AOS package at the earliest?
Guys, is it normal that they received my form on October 28 and still haven't scheduled biometry and there was no bio waived. I also contacted USCIS (via Emma) yesterday and they said that there is no appointment either.
What do you think?

P.S. I checked the timeline sheet and almost everyone immediately received a letter for biometrics.
Your advice is should we send it at the beginning of that month?I am personally against early filing because in case your application landed on junior officer hand , there is a risk it might be denied where you will have to do medical again plus pay filing fee .....
You may take advantage of the early filing option and send in your AOS package 30 to 60 days prior to the month in which the VB shows your CN as being current. You however should go through the FAQ section of the AOS process spreadsheet to enhance your understanding of early filing should you choose to go that route. You may also wish to wait and send in your AOS package to arrive at the Lockbox on the first day of the month in which the VB shows your CN as being current (or several days after).Good evening ,It looks like my turn(CN)will come in February. I haven't received my bio letter itself until like 3 and a half weeks after the lockbox delivery date. I've called agent at some point using infopass, it was not scheduled yet. I chatted with Emma couple days later and I was able to get the date for my appointment which was 3 weeks in the future. I immediately rescheduled it for the next day and printed the notice in USCIS online account.Guys, is it normal that they received my form on October 28 and still haven't scheduled biometry and there was no bio waived. In your experience:It depends on a combination of several factors such as when your background check clears, your FO's workload, whether your FO batches DV AOS cases or not, if your FO approves DV based AOS cases or not, etc.
I suggest you take a look at the "FAQ" tab of the AOS Process Spreadsheet for more applicable information. Also, take a look at some of the past Timeline spreadsheets to get an idea of how your FO has treated DV bases AOS cases in the past. And finally, do add your case progress to the 2025 Timeline spreadsheet.
I will let the experts respond, but I'll give you my personal opinion. I would pay the DV fee now and then take advantage of early filing option when available. And then hope you get your green card by late June. I personally would not wait to file the AOS package until late June (who knows what monkey wrenches the new administration may inject into the process) nor would I travel with AP as there are no guarantees you will be admitted and you lose your F1 status. There is risk you may miss the wedding, but I guess it depends on what you want to prioritize.Hello!
First of all, thank you for this forum and for compiling all this information, it is truly helpful.
I'm currently an F1 student and I'm pretty sure my case number will become current in February. However, I'm kind of worried about the timeline since I will be traveling outside the US in late June for a few days to attend my sister's wedding, which I can't miss. I've been considering these two options:
1. Start processing the case as soon it becomes current (probably February). Since I don't know when the process will be completed, I'm considering applying for Advance Parole since I would be traveling outside the country in June. However, the FAQ page in the spreadsheet states that "if you travel out of the U.S. and use an AP card to return back to the US, you’re no longer under whatever previous visa status you had before traveling. You are now considered to be in ‘parolee status’.” I'm afraid this might impact my status as an F1 student, should I be worried about this?
2. Wait until I get back from traveling in June, reenter the US as F1 student, and start the DV process. This would mean I don't pay for the DV fee or submit DS-260 until after I get back since these would show immigration intent. However, I'm worried I won't have enough time to complete the process.
Is option 1 worth the risk (or is it risky at all?), or should I be fine with option 2?
1. Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I tend to not ascribe any meaning to it considering it is not unusual for cases with similar update to remain as is for several months with no movement or further updates. In your experience:
1. Does "ready to be scheduled for an interview" status indicate that background check has concluded?
2. How does processing of the derivative applicant application affect primary applicant? Meaning, if derivative is delayed would it delay the primary?
Basically, primary got this status and derivative did not in our case. Not sure if I should attribute any meaning to that but I guess knowing that even if derivative gets stuck the primary gets processed independently would give me some peace of mind.
1. The impact to your F1 status will be if your AOS application was not approved by the end of the FY. That means you’ll have no fall back status for continuing your studies from that point onwards and would need to depart from the US. By the way, the possibility of being called for an interview while out of country (with an approved AP) for the wedding is also something to bear in mind.Hello!
