DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Received my GC today (and updated my case in spreadsheet accordingly).

Thanks Mom and all other contributors. Understanding this process without your assistance would've been an insurmountable task.
Congratulations and thanks for the update. How was your interview on 9/19?

Hi mom , I just realized that on my physical greencard category it says DV6 but it should be DV1 , cause im the one who won the lottery and i dont have wife or kids, what should i do, it says the same on my I797, will they revoke the greencard since its about to be sep 30th soon?

DV6 is the code for the principal applicant who adjusted status, while DV1 is the code for the principal applicant who did consular processing. Relax.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update and ask for advice as the deadline is coming up.

My timeline so far:
  • EU22***
  • Filed I-485 on August 1, received receipt August 6.
  • Biometrics on August 14.
  • Interview at Brooklyn FO on September 19. The officer was very friendly, asked basic questions on the form, wished me luck in my studies and career, and even made a joke. She said everything looked fine, she took my passport to scan, and told me she just needed to request the security clearance file. She said I would “definitely hear back before the September 30 deadline.”
  • Since then, no online case updates.
What I’ve done (since the interview):
  • Contacted USCIS live agents daily, status always “pending at Brooklyn, nothing further needed.”
  • Sent a paper letter to the Brooklyn FO, hand-delivered last week.
  • I submitted congressional assistance requests today. My Congresswoman’s office responded. The staff member told me that since I filed and interviewed on time, my case could be “stamped approved” even if it does not immediately show in the online system, and that in past years they have seen officers be “flexible” with DV cases around the deadline. They advised me not to worry and just wait, explaining that expedite requests for “life and death” situations take priority. The staff member was very relaxed in tone, told me to “calm down,” and also mentioned in passing the possibility of a government shutdown and that “green card printing is not a one-stop shop.” I don't know how much of this to believe in, this conversation left me more confused than I was before. I also left voicemails with both Senators.
  • I also added a note to my case via USCIS contact center this morning, flagging the September 30 deadline.
Questions:
1. Should I still try to do a walk-in at the Brooklyn FO tomorrow morning, or would that risk annoying the officer?
2. Is there anything else I can do at this point, or is it really just waiting?
3. Has anyone had the experience where the approval was dated before Sept 30, but the online system didn’t update until later?

I’d be grateful for any thoughts. This forum has been an incredible support system for me through this stressful process.

Thank you!

New Card Is Being Produced

Is it already mean that i approved ? Or i still should wait for “case approved” ?
Congratulations. You’ll know for certain when your GC shows up in your mailbox.

Meanwhile what happened at the 2nd interview you got called in for on Friday?

Ignore what your congress person’s staffer told you, simply not true. There’s no flexibility about the FY end eligibility factor for DV based applications. Yes try a walk-in, you have nothing to loose at this point.

Hello everyone and Mom, I had my interview at the Detroit FO on Thursday, September 25. It was at 9am and lasted about 20 minutes. There was no mention of denial for early filing, and the officer asked only basic questions, similar to what others in this forum have reported. The only unusual questions were about my height and how my family feels without me, and if I miss them. It didn’t feel like small talk, she seemed genuinely interested. She told me everything looked good and nothing was missing, but asked if I wanted to leave anything else. I gave her my latest DS2019 showing my valid J1 status (even though it was already in the application). She said I should expect an update by the next day (Friday), and if not, I would need to follow up (though I’m not sure how). She explained that the last step was a background check from my biometrics date (August 5, 2025) to the interview date (September 25, 2025), and that it should be quick. She didn’t clearly say “approved,” but implied that everything looked fine. She also mentioned possible delays in printing the physical card because of an expected government shutdown. She said USCIS wouldn’t be affected since it’s funded by application fees, but I don’t remember if she also mentioned possible delays in approval. As I was leaving, she called me back into the office and asked me to sign a withdrawal for the second application I had submitted a week earlier (after the denial of the first application for early filing), which was already at the FO (and the cashier check already cashed out). I asked if she was sure my first application was fine, she said yes and that there was no risk in withdrawing the second one voluntarily. About 15 minutes later, while I was in the parking lot, my case status changed to “New Card Is Being Produced,” and the next day (Friday, September 26) it changed to “Case Was Approved.” Now I’m waiting for the approval notice and the physical card. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, denial, then reopened, then interview and approval in the same day. As I said, Thursday the status was “New Card Is Being Produced,” Friday it became “Case Was Approved,” and as of today (Monday) there’s no further update. I chatted with a live agent this morning who told me the approval notice was mailed last Friday. Tomorrow is the deadline…I know I may sound too anxious, but…

1) Is there anything else I should do to make sure everything is good?
2) From what you know, and I understand this is complicated, if there’s a government shutdown, what would it actually block or delay for us DV2025 AOS applicants, especially for who haven't received the physical card yet?

Until I have the physical card in my hands, I’ll still feel some anxiety lol. In the meantime, I want to thank everyone in this forum, especially you, Mom.

To add - you don’t need the green card printed by 30 Sept but you do need approval on the case.

Great news. Congratulations.

1. Nothing else.
2. Government shutdown shouldn’t impact AOS cases as USCIS is self-funded.
