DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

I am currently on H1B and am applying to AOS (case number 2023EU25XXX).

Here are my few questions:
1. I saw a lot of mentions of applicants being denied for "N/A" nuking their forms. Where should we pay extra attention and make sure that the fields are left blanks? I seem to understand that the important part is keeping the section regarding the interpreter/preparer blank!
2. I got certified translations of my high school diploma and birth certificate. However, I can't seem to find whether I should be sending a copy of the certified translation + original or the originals along with my AOS package. What would you recommend?
3. p.2 item 19. I understood that if you used a passport to enter the country, travel document number should be inputted as "N/A" is that correct? I'm not too sure what this could refer to otherwise?
4. p.4 part 2. item 3-4. In what scenarios should we fill in these two fields? I think these should be filled as "N/A" as in the I-485 sample. Is that correct?

1. Yes.
2. No, you do not take along passport photos or anything else to listed on the bio notice for you to bring along. The listed code is what tells the technician at the ASC what type of biometrics needs to be taken when the applicant shows up. Take a look at the Background Check tab of the AOS Process Spreadsheet for an explanation of what Code 3 stands for, (and for the other codes they tend to use).

1., 3., 4. - Take a look at the pre-filled sample I-485
2. "Copies. You should submit legible photocopies of documents requested, unless the Instructions specifically state that you must submit an original document. USCIS may request an original document at the time of filing or at any time during processing of an application, petition, or request. If USCIS requests an original document from you, it will be returned to you after USCIS determines it no longer needs your original.
NOTE: If you submit original documents when not required or requested by USCIS or the Immigration Court, your original documents may remain a part of the record, USCIS or the Immigration Court will not automatically return them to you, and your original documents may be immediately destroyed upon receipt."

I asked 3. & 4. precisely because I saw the sample I-485 and got me wondering why it was the case there and whether it needed to be adapted depending on everyone's situation but I imagine it is pretty standard then...

Of course it needs to be adapted.
3. Someone who entered the US using a passport wouldn't have an applicable information to provide in the section asking about other travel documents. Vice versa for someone who used a travel document in place of a passport (not a lot of people will fall within this category).
4. All DV based AOS applications have no underlying petition. A family based application on the other hand for instance would have an underlying petition which makes the applicant eligible to file for AOS.
 
Does it say anywhere on the form that we need to keep interpreter/preparer part empty? Because, unfortunately, I did not. I have send my package yesterday and now I am panicking.

Nowhere that I know of. However, experience has shown leaving those sections blank eliminates the occasional possibility of the package being sent back as rejected because the form is presumed to be missing the interpreter and/or preparer's signature as a result of putting N/A down for the interpreter/preparer when not applicable. Same reason leaving the Middle Name section of the forms blank when the applicant has no middle name is recommended - this ensures USCIS does not produce the GC with N/A listed as the middle name.

I need following help.

1) I don't have check with me. I need to pay Adjustment of status fee of 1140 (filing fee) and 85 (Biometrics). I realized the money order is capped at 1000 dollars. Can I submit two money orders— One of $1000 and other of $225?

2) Can I write following in the in the memo section of money order?
" I-485 application and biometrics fee"

3) Since I have two money orders, i can write above memo in both the money order? (Silly questions but really nervous!)

4) I have prepared by AOS package. I live in California. Based on family based category I will be sending AOS package to following address. is this correct?

U.S. Postal Service (USPS):

USCIS
Attn: AOS
P.O. Box 805887
Chicago, IL 60680

FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries:

USCIS
Attn: AOS (Box 805887)
131 S. Dearborn St., 3rd Floor

Just to make sure if I'm getting this right : places in pre-filed sample I-485 where N/As are entered are good, and we can base on that ( keeping N/As and blank as per sample )

as per instruction from USCIS :
Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks, “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed.

The pre-filled I-485 has been provided as a sample that can be followed - this is to help me maintain my sanity of having to answer “N/A” or “None” related questions year after year.

@Sm1smom I have 2 questions, i will number.
1. Is it normal for an AOSer to receive NOA for biometric with no USICS status update?
2. Also, does a child under 14 receive a biometric form as well?
 
Hi Mom, I have an original birth certificate and marriage certificate in my own language and English. Do you recommend translating it and notarize? Thank you!

I recommend you get those translated and have certified statements (not notarized) attesting to the fluency of the translator in both English and the language the document is being translated from.

Thank you! But, I think my question was not clear. I have original document which contains two languages-- Nepali and English. Still do you think it is necessary to translate and certify?
