DV-2012 winner.. couple of questions re: next step

Hey guys

So I've been selected in DV-2012 with a low number (EU in the low 3000s).

I recently changed status to another visa, so I'm in the US for at least the next few years. So I'm more than likely taking the AOS route.

But I have a few questions.. I'll put them in one post:
- I'm from the UK (Northern Ireland, which does qualify). I have completed A-levels here.. which I believe is an equivalent of a High School Diploma. I've also completed 2.5 years of a Bach of Science degree.. but it is incomplete. Therefore I'm choosing "College, no degree"
... However, what proof can I show of the High School Diploma? We do not get such certificates.. all I have are the certificates of my exam results. Should I contact both my high school *and* college to get some kind of letter? And what do I enter as the qualification received? My results are good (top 10 in the UK) also.

- My understanding is that my next step is *immediate* - correct? And this is sending the barcode, 2 passport photos, and 2 forms to the KCC? Am I missing anything? Also, should I send this via express mail etc.. overnight it kind of thing with USPS

- Do I need a 'sponsor', or an 'affidavit of support'?

- Do you recommend I proceed *with* my immigration attorney, or without? I did a AOS to a new status class last year, then on visiting the UK at Christmas picked up the according visa before I returned under that status (new I-94 etc) As such, I do have a copy of my recent petition (which was approved) and all the documentation.. which may or may not assist me?

- If I mail the forms to the KCC this week, do I also need to mail the payment to the alternative address.. *or* do I wait until the KCC approves me before? Or.. payment first? etc. I'm unsure with the order

That's great.. so no actual solid *proof* of my education is needed at this point.

In regards to that, I have completed High School, but I did 2 years of a BS in Computing.. but I left mid-program. Since it words "highest level completed" should I just remain safe and check High School, rather than "College, No Degree".

And if I choose High School, should I enter my college under part 6b (since it just says those attended).. and under certificates received, note "Incomplete"???

- One more.. what mail method is recommended from the USA, to get it to the KCC? FedEx..USPS..?

Consular Processing vs. Adjustment of Status

The differences between Consular Processing and Adjustment of Status:
Consular Processing has the following characteristics:

1. The time frame for Consular Processing is quicker than Adjustment of Status. From the date immigrant visa numbers become available, an average of 5 to 13 months processing time is expected;
2. Consular Processing must process in the foreign country of residence or country of birth;
3. An alien who chooses to apply for Consular Processing has no benefits of a work permit and advance parole. For more information about advance parole please click here; and
4. If an alien chooses to apply for Consular Processing, he must go back to the country of last residence or country of birth for an interview and medical exam at a U.S. consulate.

Adjustment of Status has the following characteristics:

1. Adjustment of Status may be slow. For Adjustment of Status based on an employment-based immigration petition, an average of 1 to 2 years processing time is expected. For more information about the USCIS Service Center processing time, please click here. For Adjustment of Status based on a family-based immigration petition, 1 year to 3 years processing time may be expected.
2. If an alien applies for Adjustment of Status, he must reside in the United States at the time of filing of I-485;
3. An alien who chooses to apply for Adjustment of Status has the benefits of a work permit and advance parole. For more information about advance parole, please click here; and
4. An alien who chooses to apply for Adjustment of Status needs to have fingerprints taken at a USCIS center and needs a health exam by a certified doctor in the U.S.
 
I appreciate that response.. but it has nothing to do with my q?? hehe... I'm going to go for AOS.. I have 3 years left on my I-94. My only concern out of your note, is that if AOS could take '1 year or more' then surely I need to apply *asap* to meet the 9/2012 deadline!!

Education or training requirement:
_ education requirement( completion of a 12-year education : High School dipploma, and higher degrees )
_ training ( two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at least two years of training or experience to perform. The U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net OnLine database will be used to determine qualifying work experience )
 
I don't mean to be rude.. but you are just pasting what I already know. I'm asking specific questions *about* that statement. Thanks though!
 
just check high school diploma and add a letter saying that you were enrolled for the Bs but did not finish the course and you have proof of enrollement and some transcripts if any

1.No proof of anything is needed at this point, just get those forms to KCC. [Dont rush it, make sure you do them 100%. Getting them there in a week makes no difference and you gain nothing by rushing. Rather take an extra week or 2 and ensure you do it 100%. Processing is done by case number, not by the order that they receive the forms.]
2. Correct to write "High School", as that is the highest completed one. Degree/Cert received = "Year 12 certificate", for example.
3. Correct to write "college", as you did attend it.
4. I suggest you write "none" rather than "Incomplete". The question is what degree/cert received - "incomplete" would not be a valid answer as you did not receive an incomplete degree/cert. - you did not receive any = None
 
Also does anyone know if we will receive the interview date by mail or do we have to go in and check out the website (online check) again? This was not clear to me.

From DV-2012 you will have to check it on the website.
This webpage clearly says: "Entry Status Check will be the ONLY means by which DV lottery winners/selectees will be notified of their selection for DV-2012. Additionally, Entry Status Check will provide you, the successful selectee, instructions on how to proceed with your application and notify you of the date and time of your immigrant visa appointment."

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Thanks for the help

Surely I should tick "College, No Degree" as the highest level completed? Since, I can get college transcripts of results.. just no formal certification as I did not complete the degree (ie: No degree)

You already answered your own question earlier so I don't know why you are still unsure.
The question is highest level COMPLETED - By your own admission, you did not complete the college course, so you cannot tick that box. It's a no-brainer.
If you really want to tick that box though (and I don't know why you are so desperate to do it) then go ahead. It won't make any difference anyway as they don't ask for proof of educational qualifications other than the one to show that you have finished school.

You dont have to answer if you dont want :) It does not help a lot when you say cant you see or just look there it is clear etc... :) Just dont answer if you dont want to repeat there are helpful other people who will take time without telling to look better...

If you bothered to read my post to the end you would have seen that I did give an answer. My point is simply that he keeps asking the same question despite the fact that he previously suggested an answer which I already confirmed in an earlier post.

Your little lecture here is uncalled for as I always give assistance in my posts. If you don't like the manner in which I do it - tough luck. Get over it.
