DV-2010 instructions are out

One more important change:
16. WILL ENTRANTS WHO ARE NOT SELECTED BE INFORMED? Starting with DV-2010, all entrants, including those NOT selected, will be able to check the status of their entry through the E-DV website and find out if their entry was or was not selected. Entrants should keep their own confirmation page information from the time of their entry (October 2, 2008 to December 1, 2008) until they may check the status of their entry online. Status information for DV-2010 will be available online from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2010. All notification letters are sent within five to seven months from the end of the application period to the address indicated on the entry.

In DV-1 program regional allocations were:
AFRICA: (20,200) All countries.
ASIA: (6,837) All countries EXCEPT the following:
China - mainland born and Taiwan
born, India, Philippines, Vietnam,
and South Korea. (Hong Kong is
eligible).
EUROPE: (24,549) All countries EXCEPT the following:
United Kingdom and its dependent
territories. (Northern Ireland is
eligible).
NORTH AMERICA: (8) Canada is not eligible. The Bahamas
is the ONLY eligible country
included in the North American
region.
SOUTH AMERICA: (2,589) All countries EXCEPT Mexico,
Jamaica, El Salvador and the
Dominican Republic.
OCEANIA: (817) All Countries.

Total was 55000. Now it is 50000. The proportions did not change much.
 
The Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NCARA) passed by Congress in November 1997 stipulated that up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas be made available for use under the NCARA program. The reduction of the limit of available visas to 50,000 began with DV-2000

THANKS SOOOO MUCH RAEVSKY BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL JAM WHEN IT COMES TO THE PHOTOS. I HAD ALREADY HAD MINE TAKEN AND HAD I NOT BEEN A MEMBER OF THIS FORUM I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT COMES TO THE PHOTOS AT THE TIME OF ENTERING THE LOTTERY.

it is an EXCELLENT addition to be able to check your status on-line. We all know that sometimes mail gets lost due to many reasons... I wouldn't want my chance to immigrate to the US to just get lost like that... so I'm able to check my status on line and see if I went up in the draw but didn't recieve the NL and ask KCC to send it again...

Can a DV 2009 winner be registered for DV 2010? Any idea? Will there be any problem?

It might not be the subject of this thread but I have a question:

What is the latest date to enter in to the US after a successful interview and visa issuance. I read on other threads that one has to enter in to the US in 6 months time. Is this to mean you can enter in the US even after Sep 30? For those who get their visa late, like for example in August or September?

You mixed some things. All DV visas must be issued until Sept. 30. After your interview you have 6 month to activate the visa, regardless when it was issued.

My understanding was Sep 30 as the the last date to activate the visa.

where could i find the application form?
I go to dvlottery.state.gov, but it only shows
DV-2010 Lottery Starts Soon!

The DV-2010 Lottery begins at Noon EDT on October 2, 2008, and ends at Noon EST on December 1, 2008.

is it start right now? could the entry form be assess in the above mentioned pages?
