#122 wac-02-068: New milestone in our long journey -- Dec '01 case approved!!

After so many years of hard working and painful waiting, we have finally
reached a new significant milestone in our immigration journey. Even though
both men in our house are too tired of the almost endless waiting to show
any excitement, I still can truly feel the happiness and would like to share it
with our big family in this forum, the good news of our I-485 approval.

Here is a list of our milestones:

Fall 1997 -- Entered the U.S. on J1 visa.
Spring 1998 -- Husband and son joined.

Aug. 2001 -- Medical Exam done.
Sep. 11 '01 -- Something non-trivial happened.
Dec. 2001 -- I-485 application submitted.
May 2002 -- First finger prints done.
Oct. 2002 -- Joined ImmigrationPortal.COM.
Jan. 2003 -- Parents formally prayed to ancesters for help with our GC.
Summer '03 -- Mom started suspecting the GC delay was caused by my
unfinished(still on-going) degree.
Dec. 2003 -- Became active in this forum.
Spring 2004 -- Participated in all the major campaigns.
Feb 2004 -- Visited by an officer from DOD. (Reason why called
ImmigrateMe several times to share information.)

CIS website, right after the defense.
July 21 '04 -- $175 (was to pay CIS for an advance parole for self) sent
to ImmigrationPortal.ORG.
By 2008 -- Get citizenship for the family!

In real life, both my husband and myself have big families, from where we always get so much love and support. We feel so lucky that besides that we have an even bigger family here in this forum, which has been the source of information, care and support in an even wider range of aspects for the past couple of years, and in the future. On behalf of my real life family, I thank you all from the very bottom of my heart!

Our special thanks to Kashmir for his selfishless contributions to this community and his help with our individual cases. We thank congresswoman Ana Eshoo and her office for their efforts. All my comrades in bayarea485 group, along with all the other active members in this forum, deserve our truest respect for their leadership, devotion and support!!

#123 garun: WAC-02-107-5XXXX approved...

It's freaking true. Yahoo!!! :)

Our 485 (me and my wife) got approved on Jul 16 2004. The reason it took me so long to post is that I was unable to believe it till I saw my approval notice, as there was no RFE involved.

I'm really happy to end this long journey. It's been some roller-coaster ride sharing thoughts with so many members out in this forum. Thanks to Silly Man, PCee, I-140, Kashmir, dsatish, ruxrux, etc. for all their hardwork.

Now, a qs. can I go to CIS office with my courtesy notice for the stamping or is it mandatory to take the original notice which has been sent to my lawyer. My lawyer says I can go with the courtesy notice (although the notice says I should take the original with me). Has anybody any experience of getting stamped with the courtesy notice?

My GC history:

Applied for labor Apr 2000
Labor approved May 2000 (in 1 month!)
I-140 appled Jul 2000
I-140 approved Dec 2001 (I-140 really takes 4 ever)
I-485 RD Feb 5 2002
ND Feb 8 2002
Ist FP Done Mar 2002
FP recd by INS Apr 6 2002
3 EADs and 3 APs
Lawyer called up CIS to qs why my case is taking so longer although JIT date has passed Jun 9th 2004
(IIO promised things will be looked into 3 weeks time)
2nd FP notice Jun 24 2004
2nd FP Done Jun 29 2004
2nd FP result recvd by CIS Jul 3rd 2004
I-485 approved Jul 16 2004

I almost stopped checking my status and got entirely frustrated to see JIT dates progressing. The phone call by my lawyer seems to have helped.
I would thefore suggest guys (Feb-Mar-Apr 2002 case) who have not gotten even their 2nd FP to have their lawyers call the numbers 949-389-3007/949-389-3252 and ask about their status. FAX to CIS does not work. I sent whole bunch of faxes but no response.

Will keep you guys posted on stamping experience. Best of luck to everyone. I sincerely hope all fo you guys get out of this long wait pretty soon.

#127 pceefan: At last, with the alimighty's grace, pceefan has been approved.

Folks,

I had almost give up hope that my case would see light of the day. I was depressed and reached a stage where we were talking about the end of the road. Two things changed that, one was my firm belief in my religion (Hinduism) which preaches to accept with grace, dignity one's fate and the second was this lovely book from Louise Hay (Heal your Life) where she says that one needs to constantly tell oneself to accept all the abundance and good in this universe.

Folks, I really practiced what Ms Hay preached in her book and pleasantly surprised to see the approval today.

My datelines

1. WAC-02-086-XXXX
2. EB1
3. RFE received for I140 in Dec 2001
4. 140 approved in end Dec 2001
5. Notice date of filing 485- Jan 11th 2002
6. FP 1 Jun 2002, FP 2 July 2004 !!! (nothing happened between FP 1 and FP 2
7. There was no RFE in the 485 phase,
8. 485 Approved on July 21st 2004.
9. 2.5 years waiting after 485

Special Action: Called the INS on unude delay and loads of faxes and inquiries. Got call back from a 'special office' in the INS saying my file was lost and placed elsewhere and they would look into it. This was somewhere in late May.

Got the FP notice immediately after the special officer called. Did my FP and got the approval in 3 weeks

Thank you Immi Portal and all you wonderful folks for the constant source of information and encouragement.

I want to dedicate this Limerick for the Immi portal folks

My heart beats with appreciation
For Immi's portal's creation
the folks here are just great
they bond like long lost soul-mates
I now step into Free America with less trepidation!

Thanks you folks, Rajeev, Pcee (my hero), Kashmir, 140, RM CSC, and so many unsung heroes

#131 gettingclosernow: And on the 932'd day.....I got approved!!!!!!!

Thanks be to God.

I don't know why He had me in His waiting room so long, but this is His wisdom not mine. But one thing is that USCIS change in policy of not doing as many RFE's just recently could be as my case had a number of potential flags that could have been raised. All I can say is God is Great and I'm thankful.

What a relief after this long journey, finally I can have the same joy all the others who are approved have.

I found a funny and naive post i did back in May 2002, where I was extrapolating the processing rate then and assumed I would be approved by July 2002 - was I ever wrong!

http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=48561

Thanks to the many people on this board, the helpful ones CIBA PCEE, the funny ones Sillyman, the diligent Kashmir and those who aren't so high profile but just as important and helpful and kept this board a lifeline to all of us.

For those long waiters like me, I feel your pain and I wish for you a speedy approval with no hassles and may God shine his face and blessings on you too.

#132 rasinu2003: WooooW, Can't believe, it's approved

I just checked USCIS website and my 485 was approved on 21st July and received 2 e-mails from USCIS. I did not receive approval notice so far. If it gets any help, I also had LUD update on 6/23,24. I am not sure whether that theory is correct. But, I believe, whoever has that touch date, they are pretty close. Wish everybody good luck. It was pretty long journey for me (us) and I believe, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. So, hang in there and keep faith on yourself (though I know it's pretty easy to say this now and very difficult to maintain the same in life). I am very happy now and wish everybody will get their turn soon.

This forum is great. I was greatly benefited and so does everybody. I will keep contributing and contribute monetarily soon. Will keep you posted on stamping details.

Thanks to Rajib and all moderators and participants.

#136 falseskywalker: Finally I-485 is approved!

Yesterday my wife and I got I-485 approval notice paper. It shows we are approved on July 16th, 2004.

However, I went online to check my status, the last update date is 7/17/2004, but it still says our case is pending. I check by phone call, same thing. I also don't get email notice until now.

Anyone have similar experience?
