Conditional permanent resident - is it ok to be unemployed?

Hi, I'm a conditional permanent resident in California, previously a H-1B.

My question is, aside from the fact that I need to inform the USCIS when I change my residential address, is there some kind of clause that says I have to make above a certain dollar amount per year?

In my conditional PR, I'm the sole bread winner. My spouse (the US citizen who sponsored my marriage based conditional PR) is in college and for all intent and purposes of living, does not make any money.

The reason why I ask is because if I leave my job to start a technology startup (or join one), I will be living off savings for a while, and will have zero income. I have enough for a few months. I did my homework and I don't think there is any gotchas, but wanted additional input incase I missed anything.

Is that alright by the law?

afaik you cannot claim welfare benefits until you either become a USC or have completed 10 fiscal quarters of employment. If you do claim welfare they come after your wife lol. But they don't care if you live off savings and they don't even care if you borrow money, get into debt as long as you don't draw state/local/federal govt benefits such as foodstamps etc. But nobody will audit the income of you and your wife now that you are an LPR. I'm assuming your wife and/or some relatives sponsored you and are going to be the guarantors of you not becoming a public charge.

But does he have to show that when he's trying to remove the conditional greencard later on?

tbh I don't know what you mean by a conditional gc but if his startup makes money after a year or two he won't need to draw welfare. You have to understand, before a person is allowed a gc they have a sponsor fill out a form to reduce the amount of welfare grabbing leeches lol. The idea is if their I-130 petitioner knows that the beneficiary will not be a leech then they are much more willing to sponsor them. If the beneficiary is likely to become a welfare bum then the petitionor would be kinda scared to sign the sponsorship document. I'm not positive but even if he makes poverty level wages for a couple of years it won't affect his naturalization in the future because a) he didn't draw welfare and b) by that time he will probably be making well above poverty wages and c) to be naturalized as opposed to becoming an LPR I don't think there is an income requirement for you or your previous sponsor.
