My son 18 and a green card holder since december 2005 - entered the US legally in 1999 lives with me his father - mother in other country - no ties to other country - UK:
He has a sister here - and me and other family members:

He was involved with taking snow mobiles last december and charged with midemeanors reduced from felonys - 2 felonys reduced on plea bargain:
He was sentanced to 3 years probation, and some days per week in jail which he served but is still on probation:

He picked up another charge when entering a friends house and was with another person who stole two items - a laptop and a wii - he was charged with burglary in 2nd class C felony - we have a attourney and hopefully can get it reduced to a misdemeanor:

He is currently in jail on $25,000 bail:
He appears in court on wednesday - we will ask for a bail reduction:
Obviously a violation of probation is filed and he has this new charge and the old charges he was put on probation for now hanging over him:

This kid was mixing with the wrong crowd and I need to get him away from that and will ask the judge to send him to boot camp where he will learn discipline, responsibility and grow up:

My questions are:

would he be depostable or would he face any involvement regarding immigration?

If his charges are misdemeanors including this felony reduced to a misdemeanor - meaning never having been convicted of a felony - does this constitute removal proceedings or involvement in possible deportation?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated

You really need to consult with an immigration lawyer experienced in criminal law to go over all the facts of the case, especially since the convictions are potentially CIMTs that make him deportable.

another case that support my appeal to parents thatthey should get their GC children citizenship.

The GC children who grow up here have no common sense in immigration
matter. They think they are Americans but they are not even a bit.

That being said, I found parents who I advised this way very insulted by my advice. They are most likely right because most of people will not have such trouble just like most of people will not die in car accidents. But those who
are not lucky should regret.

One has a life time odds of 1 to 80 to be killed in car accidents in America.
What is the odds of being deported for a GC child who group up in AMerican and
never become a citizen?

An immigrant who came to USA could still manage to have a life even a good life if he get deported.
But a GC child who get deported may end up in a country where he does not even speak local language

I am unclear about this - he was convicted in December of misdemeanors and now picks up another charge Burglary in 2nd felony - which we have to get reduced to a misdemeanor and are hopeful of that - so if he has misdemeanors only does this make it a crime of moral turpitude?
does it render him potentially deportable after any sentence or punishment is given?
what are the statistics of deportation given my sons background and status?
sorry for all the questions..
also I agree with the poster - he is unaware of the complications of what he has gotten into in relation to immigration and possible ramifications of this - at 18 I hardly think he knows what could happen.....
Is it common for a person in a similar situation to face deportation on misdemeanors - I do not see burglary on the list of CMT?
(we hope that will be reduced and are confident of reducing that to a misdemeanors anyway...I hope you don't mind all the questions

Burglary can be a CIMT under certain circumstances. Again, you need to go over the exact charges with an immigration as it's impossible to get sound advice from this board without knowing all the facts of your son's case.

thanks Bob - the exact charge is Burglary in 2nd - class C felony - but again we hope to get this reduced to a misdemeanor - but what other info do you need - as far as the actual incident there was no violence involved or was anyone using any weapon - its pathetic really - my son and another went to another friends house and climbed in through a window as the friend said they could go there when they wanted even though he was not there but then later changed his mind...they cooked pancakes and sat and waited then somthing happened and the other kid caused damage inside the proprty and stol two items from it - my son was just 'there' when it happened and was charged accordingly the same...any other advice would be appreciated....does it depened on the circumstances as to whether a charge is deemed CMT or not?

The intersection of immigration and criminal law is very tricky. You must consult an attorney who knows both areas of the law--again not just any criminal defense attorney. Do not plead to anything until you get competent immigration law advice.

Parents often learn this lesson too late.

I have to wait 5 years and got my and sons GC in december 2005 BUT enterted the USA legally in 1999 and applied for GC in 2003 - they lost the files and I should have got them earlier - is there anything I can do to get citizenship before 5 years is up as they messed up with losing our applications and we would have got the GC earlier and therefore been able to apply for citizenship by now

I dont think so. They sat on my GC application for over 3 year for no apparent reason and I did research to see if I can get GC backdate because Naturalization requirements count time from the day of becoming Permanent Resident. I was told that only time they backdate a GC is in asylum case (1 year backdate).
