Clock Confusion

I was denied asylum by AO and referred to IJ. My first hearing is not until March 2008. The referral notice also had the date at which I can apply for EAD- I promptly filled for the EAD on that indicated date and included the referral letter and highlighted the date when I mailed my EAD app with all other docs.

My confusion arises from the fact that when I call the 800 number to EOIR, the clock prompts tells me the following: "There is no clock on your case, 73 days have elapsed". It has been 2 weeks and when I call, it gives me the same message with the same day count, 73 days. Is that a different clock and why is it stuck? Do I need to worry about getting an EAD?

Thank you in advance for your help.

as far i understand 800 message will start telling about your clock after your first appering in the court.but that doesn't mean your clock is stopped.you will get your ead.

u have to wait 150 days since filed asylum. u cant apply and get ead just cos u got ur case rejected by AO and not have hearing till march.

As I mentioned in my first post, the referral letter provided me with the date at which 150 days have elapsed. Even by most conservative calculations, 150 days have elapsed. I applied for the EAD on the date indicated in the referral letter (at which time 150 days have elapsed).

My confusion arises from the fact that the clock on the 800 number is stuck at 73 days for the past 2 weeks and has not moved- prior to 2 weeks, the 800 number had no record of my case. I am really confused as to what the 73 days represents.

dear jameel123 i ve been thru that same case too and worse coz it too me more time to get that fixed. always try to find out if your clock is running or not wether infront of AO or IJ.what i will advice you do is when you meet the IJ address the issue there and then.for now you cant really do anything, yes cases do vary but the clock is a very troublesome issue.I sent over 4 requests to the court for it to be adjusted when mine had a problem.the clock said over the automated system '' the clock is running'' but technically it wasnt counting,my first ead was refused on bases that i havent attained 150 days when i had 219 days at the time of filling.all the same try calling the court and they will you what the issue is,if it is running or not.maybe your clock isnt running.and whatever paperwork was given to you that might be of assistance, you can use that as well to file for your ead when the time comes.just try it if it is what you were told by the AO.,my advice would be contact the court which currently has powers over your case, they are the ones to provide you with all the infos you need BUT AGAIN make sure when you get to court for your hearing ADDRESS THE ISSUE and before you leave that day ask on how many days you have on the clock and if it is running or not.IT IS your right to know and it is very much adviced you do so BECAUSE ASYLUM CLOCK ISSUES ARE VERYYYYYY HARD TO RESOLVE you can do your researches.I been thru it for 2 years now.God Luck and God Bless You

Anyone out there who had their clock stopped, what kind of message do you get when you call the 800 number and inquire about the time elapsed? Does it say, 'Clock is Stopped'? Thanks

I got my clocked stopped because I rescheduled my interview... I never called the 800 though, I got a response by mail...
