I was denied asylum by AO and referred to IJ. My first hearing is not until March 2008. The referral notice also had the date at which I can apply for EAD- I promptly filled for the EAD on that indicated date and included the referral letter and highlighted the date when I mailed my EAD app with all other docs.
My confusion arises from the fact that when I call the 800 number to EOIR, the clock prompts tells me the following: "There is no clock on your case, 73 days have elapsed". It has been 2 weeks and when I call, it gives me the same message with the same day count, 73 days. Is that a different clock and why is it stuck? Do I need to worry about getting an EAD?
Thank you in advance for your help.
