i am a us citizen.applied us citizenship for my mom she has interview for citizenship october 14. can i accompany with my mother. to go inside with her for interview.on the application form i had signed my signature and name under who filled this form...................

she can read english but she cannot understand foreign accent. she is 55 and she remembered all the 94 question.

I'm not sure but if I'm not mistaken i think USCIS will have to get her one of their own translators. But I'm not 100% sure. I also think no one is allowed to go with the applicant in the interview room.

I think that only an attorney is allowed to go into the interview room with an applicant.

It wasnt case in LA

Yesterday I had my interview at LA. I saw atleast 5 people being called and Officer asked them if they understand english. They said no. He asked them if they have translator. They said no or they couldnt find the guy or something. Officer immediately asked for a volunteer. In two cases another attorney (not translator) agreed to help. Supervisor of Officer (I believe) later joked if he is charging for the service. In another case, another interview candidate helped. Lucky for him, because his case was pulled out immediately and interview with the other candidate who neede help.

In no case, was the candidate sent back.

How long has your mom been residing as a legal resident for in the US since if it's more than 20 years, she's exempt from English written and reading test.

If not, you might be able to pass as her representative at interview by using form g-28. Call USCIS first to confirm if you can do this.

Unless your Mom qualifies for an exemption based on age+residency period, she will have to be able to conduct the interview in English without an interpreter.
