Chennai Jan interviews

I don\'t think PCC is necessary for US/India.

When consulate sent letters for S\'Pore, they would have sent all of us for US/India. Any way, I will enquire about this when I call Chennai today.

Beware..................................! of PCC required from India.

One CP\'er @ Mumbai consulate saw a notice saying that "All CP\'ers need PCC(Police Cert.) from Jan.\'02 onwards". First I did not pay attention to it because if at all required, Consulate might have notified to us. Now it getting serious. Sudhir Kumar conformed from Delhi consulate that it\'s indeed correct. And we need PCC for Jan.\'02 Interview. I am prepared for that at all. I tried to call chennai from 9:30 - 10:45 IST. No luck. I tried 3 no.s 8112060/8112032/8112020. 2032 is fax no. 2060 is ringing forever. 2020 is always engaged. I am going to send an e-mail for conformation. Chennai is usually very good @ e-mail replies. Hopefully we will know in next couple days. Good Luck to us.

PCC required only for those who stayed and appled from India.

What a Releif. TestURLuck talked to Chennai last night and conformed this news.

PCC Certificate

Dont worry,

I called chennai Consulate office yesterday night at 10:18 PM to 8112060 No. Lady officer said you need PCC if you stay ONLY in india.

This is of the people who apply for US GC from india and staying in India.

Not for the people who lived in Both India and US.

I hope it is clear.

Thanx TL

But FAQ says...

Chennai consulate FAQ has a different explanation:

If an applicant has only resided in India or the United States, then no police certificate is required from the Indian police or any local police authority in the United States. However, if the applicant has resided abroad since the age of 16 for periods of six months or more, then a police certificate might be required from that country, depending on which country it was. A full list of countries where police certificates are considered to be unavailable is at the National Visa Center web site.

-----

From the above I interpret that if any applicant has lived only in India then PCC is not required. Am I correct?

PCC

I got a letter at my indian Adrress saying I need PCC for Singapore, it did not talk asbout PCC from India, I don\'t Think we need PCC from India.

I called Chennai Consulate Yesterday they it will take another 8 weeks get an interview.

Let us be on top of the PCC mess.

Hi guys,
Let us be proactive and keep looking for more information on this PCC requirement. Let us keep everyone involved. Please share any emails, phone conversations etc. that any of us has with an officer in Chennai. I have sent them a mail too and am waiting for the reply. I will try calling them tonight.
TestURLuck, can you please post the name of the person you spoke to yesterday for reference purposes.
Thanks.

Hi, I just got my 140 approved... How soon from now can I expect

an interview at Chennai(please include all the times including the case creation at NVC , PCK 3 ...)

PCC Certificate

I don\'t Know the persons name. I did not ask. I dont understand what is the confusion.

Bottom Line is...
You NEED PCC If You stay only in India.
You DO NOT NEED PCC If you stay In India and US.
You NEED PCC for Other Countries Other than above two cases.

Thanx

Employment Letter

Hello Friends,
My lawyer took an employment letter in October itself in preparation for my CP and actually sent it to Chennai along with my PIII. He has another original copy of that and he wants me to take the same to Chennai in January. Would that be considered too old, as such I will have my current pay stubs when I go to Chennai for CP.

Response from Chennia consulate.

I had sent a mail to chennai consulate asking them when my interview will be and whether we require a PCC or not? They replied that interview likely in Jan but completely avoided my PCC question. Also I tried to call them last night but in vain. Anybody else got replies to their emails or were able to talk to them?
Please update.

Subject: Immigraton visa - police clearance certificate from India

Dear Officer,
My case number is MDR-2001-791-*. I recently got a letter from your
embassy regarding my police clearance certificate from S\'pore. I have
applied for police clearance certificate from S\'pore. This is fine. But I
have a few other questions.
Is a police clearance certificate required for me from India? My spouse who is
my dependant will be immigrating with me. Does she also need a police
clearance certificate from India?
Thanks for your kind attention.
Sincerely,
NAME
