Canadian on H visa -- stamping requirements?

Any Canadians on an H visa know about the following?

I currently have no stamp in my passport and I'm somewhat concerned that I'm supposed to have one.

My "story":

+Canadian citizen
+currently on 2nd H visa good until 2006
+no stamp in passport currently (entered US in 1998 on a TN, passport renewed since, all subsequent visas renewed while in US)
+have travelled to Canada a couple times on 1st H visa for 2-3 weeks
+have always presented passport plus complete I-797 w. attached I-94 at US border when re-entering from Canada
+in the I-140/I-485 stage currently (have EAD but continuing to work under H)

I've never been given a stamp at the border for the H visa -- maybe I was supposed to go into the immigration building to ask for one? Should I request a stamp at the border next time? Am I supposed to send my passport somewhere to do this if I'm not planning to be at the border (although I can't believe our lawyer wouldn't have mentioned this)?

Any comments / thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

They dont stamp H visas at the border. Next time try getting the stamp at the US consulate in canada when you visit there.
You will face problems entering US only if you travel from some other country other than canada.

I'm not sure, but I think I was talking about an I-94 stamp (like the one I got when I had a TN visa)?

This "H" stamp is something that I've never heard of prior to the last couple of weeks. Afaik, Canadians are exempt from needing this? I sure hope so, cos I've been here for 4+ years now on an H without one (and our lawyer sure as heck never mentioned getting one).
