I am a H-4 visa holder. I used to work for a company in my country before I came to US as the H-4 visa holder. The company still wants me to work for them through the internet while I am staying in US. Can I work for the company? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the responses. To clarify my situation, the company is outside the US and it's not a US company, and I will be getting paid outside the US.

-- No. You cannot work while you are on the US soil on H4.

i do believe that she can if the company is outside the US and it's not a US company, and she is getting paid outside the US. She is simply physically located here and telecommutes.

It is in very grey area, but considering the concept of work authorization for alien, I think working w/o authorization on the US soil is closer to black. Basically, it might be considered taking a job away from the US citizen.
