I applied in jan 2002, got my file number april 2002 and then my initial assessment in April 2003. I paid my ROLF fees in June and also confirmed that the money was taken in June. I sent my medicals in the last week of Aug since I was asked to wait 6 months after my assessment. Since then I have not heard anything. I faxed the consulate a week back and my estatus changed to medicals received.

I am not sure what the delay is about other than background checks but its more than 6 months already

Here is why mine is delayed:
my RCMP certificate fingerprints cannot be included in the computer database because my hands were sweaty at the time these prints were taken and now the computer cannot read it. So they have had to manually analyse my prints. I came to know this after I got the info that my RCMP prints hadn't reached Buffalo even after 9 months.
I am discovering new ways of delaying my immigration approval. Hopefully, you don't have sweaty hands.

Unexpected happend

I applied in March 2002, got initial assessment with interview waiver and done medicals in jun 2003. I recd letter from cic that I am required to attend interview. has anyone faced this after medicals.. please post replies.

No nothing in the letter. just we finished the initial analysis and interview is required. I don't know why .....

They sometimes call for interviews after an intial waiver for quality check purposes.
The same thing happened with my bro-in-law.

can you please tell how long it took for your brohter in law after this kind of letter. As my medicals will be expiring in next 6 months and visa in the usa after 2 months. please reply.

Is for your b in law after interview they stamped pass right away.

do you know after this letter how long it took for him for interview. I have asked to attend interview in LA but still my file has to be transfered and LA will notify me on that.

They took about 4 months. But this was way back in the good old days. I don't know how long it will take now. Although, in your case, since they had asked you to do the medicals and you have followed all instructions to the letter-they will schedule well before your medicals expire.
Even if your medicals expire, if you are a category 1 - that is no illness detected during tests-and you havn't left US/Canada in that period after taking the tests-then they have the authority to allow you to enter Canada without new medicals-even if the old medicals are over 1 year old.
I don't know whether I helped but this is all I know.
 
I dont understand why CIC is delaying my case. I got a letter that I dont need an interview in Jul and replied end of Aug. Till today I didnt receive any info.

satishjha73: Can you tell us how you found the reason for the delay ?

Also, I have a US immig in parallel and when they asked for current immig papers in US like H1 etc, I submitted my US EAD. Is this going to be a problem ?

Also, I didnt pay the ROLF. Is this another cause for delay ? If so, can I pay it now with just a cover letter ?

Interview Request

Friends,

Today I received a letter from the New york consulate that an interview has been scheduled for the 4th February. I applied for the Canadian PR in the later part of May 2002, got my file number in November 2002, initial assessment completed and letter sent from Buffalo stating that interview is required and file is being transferred to the Newyork Office. This letter was received in September 2003. Also received the medical forms. Yet to do the medicals.

Does anybody know if they would stamp the passport the same day the interview is over?. Also does anybody know what kind of questions are asked in the interview?.

Any inputs for the aboe questions are appreciated.

Congrats, for getting the interview letter. I am in the same boat, awaiting the interview letter from LA consulate though. My application was filed in Apr 2002. Got initial assessment letter in sept 2003 with the "interview required".
Would you please mention - what is all written in the interview letter. Do they ask for any other documents like IELTS, paystub, FBI clearance etc.. What about the medical??

Thanks. I haven't seen the letter yet. I would be able to give you more details regarding the contents of the letter either on Friday or Saturday.

Passport request

Hi Folks,

I have received passport request from Buffalo and have to submitt within 20 days. As a requirement we must submitt passports of all applicants togather.

My problem is, My spouse is travelling. I am not sure whether I should get the passport in FedEx and submit or should I send a Fax to CIC-Buffalo to explain the situation.

If Anyone or Anybody's friends were been in same situation, Please post the guiding exprience.

I sent my medicals in last week of Nov 03, sent other docs (us finger prints, employer letter etc.,), landing fee on 13 th of Dec. My wife is taveling to india for 2 months (Jan, Dec). So my question is how much time they give me in the passport request letter for sending the passport.
Can we send a fax or letter to Buffalo requesting additional time to send the passport. ?

How much time they give us to land after getting stamped in the passport, I heard it depends up the US visa you have in the passport. Is it true ??

My other question is I see some posts abt estatus, how do we check it ??
