BEC Priority Date Tracker

Update on BEC# and date code

Update on BEC # - its P-05012-xxxxx

(old info - already in database)

GA
EB3
RIR
PD - 8/20/03
RD - 11/6/03
Atlanta
New BEC Case no. ?
45-day letter 4/14/05

I was looking at the BEC #'s and wondered if there was something encoded in them. They didnt seem to match up with BEC or with sites, but then I noticed that the series of numbers logged so far went from P-04246-xxxx -> P-04364-xxxx and then jumped to P-05010-xxxx -> P-05033-xxxx and then it struck me that this was an encoded date! 04 or 05 for the year and then the next three digits are the day of the year, so P-04364-xxxx was date stamped on December 29th 2004 (the 364th day of the year). I dont know what the occasion of the date stamp is, but this may give us some further insight into the timing of processing.

Forgive me for wasting your bandwidth if you already knew this.

DOL HAS FINALLY PROVIDED VITAL INFORMATION ABOUT BPC/BEC
ANSWERS MOST OF OUR QUESTIONS..

Thanks for the info gp111.

They don't really tell you how many people they have working on cases though ... that would be one of the key element to estimate how long it will take to get the backlog under control ...
:(

For one question, they say that they will process strictly by priority date (FIFO) (cases from both Regional and SWA combined).

For another question, they say they have already started processing cases at the Regional level (Regional cases which are in the system and for which 45-day response have been received).

Very equivocal answers!!!

Wait... is that what they mean by FIFO? I thought by FIFO they meant the order in which the applications get to the BPC, which may be different than the original priority dates the applications got at various regional/state offices.

I think they do mean FIFO by SWA received date, wether it came from SWA or Regional.

Just my two cents ....

Bill Passed to Provide Limited Relief from Retrogression
Posted May 04, 2005

H.R. 1268, a bill that was primarily intended to provide supplemental appropriations for defense, the global war on terror, and tsunami relief, has been passed by both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. However, it contains some important immigration provisions. The House and Senate announced on May 3, 2005 that they have reached an agreement on the final wording of the Bill. This Bill is not yet enacted into law, but is expected to be signed by the President, which will finalize it into law.

The Bill would amend the provision of AC21 that released certain unused visa numbers to all employment-based categories. In H.R. 1268, 50 percent of these employment-based visa numbers are allocated solely to Schedule A cases, which affects nurses and physical therapists. This would be quite helpful to nurses and physical therapists, occupations in high demand in the U.S. It would also be helpful to address the current retrogression problem in the EB-3 category. Of course, this is a short-term solution. Details of this Bill will be made available in our May 6, 2005 MurthyBulletin and on MurthyDotCom.

Hi I'm new here, thought i'd share my case here

STATE SWA: Ohio, EB3
RIR or Regular: Conventional (TR)
PD : JAN 16 2003
RD : ??
Regional DOL : Chicago
New BEC Case no. ??
45-day letter Date ??

from my attorney's website i knew that my case has passed at the state level(very recently, around March of 2005), but there isn't any update on whether/when my case has been transfered to Dallas...I think it should be in Dallas now...but no sign of that so called "45 day letter" or new case number...

State Completed Traditional cases recently

Hi momoyang,

I am also in the same situation. I am sure they(our cases) will land in Dallas.
Since our's is approved by state very recently, you think they will still send the 45 day letter?

I think Certifying officers should complete cases like these, instead of sitting idle waiting for data entry is done for all the TR cases. It does not make sense to send 45 day letter(s) to us, as our cases are advertized in Feb/March 2005 and completed by state.

As TR and RIR queue are seperate. TR Certifying officers must complete these cases.

If BEC is smart and really working towards completing this massive backlog in 2 years, they need to complete these type of cases ASAP, as they take very less time.

Hi badluckinusa,

i understand your frustration, but from reading previous posts here i don't think we have any privileges in terms of getting our case completed fater. there are many cases from other states with PD in 2001 or 2002 were waiting at the regional level for years...so, like it or not we'll have to suck up this pain. hope you have better luck!
