Friends,
Just need some info from Immigration experts:
I filed I-485 based on Approved I-140 to VSC in the first week of August 2002
Received Receipts for I-485, AP, EAD
Checked the AVM and my EAD has been approved, AP approved (not received in hands)
I received Finger Printing Notice today and my FP is scheduled on September 25th.
I have to take the benefit of AC21 and I want to change my employer.
Service Center is VSC and I am in Baltimore MD
I have a fear that once FP is over then my case may be transferred to Baltimore local INS office and they may schedule my Interview date before 180 days.
I was reading in some threads that once FBI clears the Finger printing then service center sends the file to local INS and they may conduct final interview in one month, that will be bad for me as I want my I-485 not to be approved before 180 days from filing.
I have few questions:
1. Is I-485 approved by service center and then file will be sent to local office or after Finger Print is received by VSC from FBI they will send file to local office to approve1-485
2. I hope one can take advantage of AC21 only if the case is pending with INS more than 180 days.
3. Should I postpone the finger Prints or I do not have to worry?

That is really fast. Getting fingerprint from Baltimore
within 2 months. Used to be > 6 months. Once you take
fingerprint, it may be approved from VSC itself
without/with RFE's or transferred to Baltimore.
But if it is transferred to Baltimore, it will not be
approved from VSC. It will be in Baltimore.
As far as I know, if the 485 is approved within 180 days
you cannot utilize AC21. Per my readings if 485 takes
more than 180 days, you can utilize AC21 either before or after 180 days.
But whether it will be approved within 180 days nobody can
guess.
I suggest you post it outside this thread, as there may be people
with similar situations. This thread is frequented by people who are

We do need the info.
I was a silent surfer myself for a while. But somehow it didn't feel right, because since we use the info from the portal for our benefit, we should also provide some basic info to the members. Otherwise, it is not a fair game.

Interviews at Baltimore-

Based on my assessment 80-90% people in baltimore
area (MD) gets interviews. Some people gets approved directly.
I dont know on what basis they do this, (most likely Baltimore
is volunteering to do so at certain times) but it does
not mean the case is complicated/ warrants RFE. This may be true
of other Local INS's not Baltimore. I think this is happening for past more than 1 year.
Agree with RD0915 that we all need to contribute to the threads
with mutual sharable info reg 485 related issues. The collective
wisdom will be very powerful, and I have found they can rival
the knowledge of the lawyers in some instances.
