I hate when ppl who have no idea about the law and congressional process comment and post stuff like this...I hope more people read this thread and believe DVL is canceled so that fewer ppl apply next yea...That's what you get for being ignorant and plainly stupid.
H.R. 704 passed the House Judiciary Committee. This comes at no surprise. The House and the Committee are in the hands of the GOP, who try to reduce immigration. The House will now consider the bill and most likely it will pass in the next month or two. HOWEVER, the bill does not become a law until the Senate votes on the exact same bill. First, the bill, if approved by the House, will have to go through the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is in the hands of the Dems. They will not push for this bill so it will die just the same way the previous versions of this bill died in 2005 and 2007.
Senate has made it clear that they want to see a comprehensive immigration reform bill on the table and not just piece by piece legislature. If the DV is canceled it would be as part of a bigger and more thought through bill.
Committees and oftentimes the House pass hundreds of bills every month but very few become a law...most of those bills simply signal attitude in each chamber and become grounds for debate and eventual bi-partisan legislature.
Many thanks for the clarification, Delit2727! I was confused first, since I hadn't heard the bill passing the House. Yes, before you guys post anything like this, please do some research! Otherwise this will cause a huge panic among ppl.

What I care most of is that mostly outrageously moderated russian forum govorimpro is in agony now and will soon lose all its creadibility.

It makes perfect sense that this whole "glitch" is a complete conspiracy, DOS knew it all along and they knew some ex-winners must gonna be complaining & suing, then it's going to be a huge mess for everyone. Then they will have EXCUSES to cancel the lottery, officially. Otherwise, this whole drama seriously doesn't make sense at all. It could easily only took a high school student couple hours( or not even) to put the results in Excel, and identify the glitch. And it took those intelligents SIX months and TWO weeks to find out? Completely doesn't make sense."

100% agree.. they did the same with The Maine, ..with Perl Harbor, etc.. why not this time?
Seriously, that so-called glitch really doesn't make sense. However, the dots will connect eventually. Look at it, they jumped at this "Bill" (again) shortly after the results were released. They are on to something. Perhaps, they believe that immigrants are too stupid and naive to pick up on their scheme.
I was serious man. I do believe they are playing with us, actually I'm the guy who created the post "DV-2012 July WAS A SCAM"...I love USA, but it has a dark side, which means doing ANYTHING go get what they need, lie, deceive, and make up stories like this one..

Very true. Someone has told me that they may have manipulated the results or program the computer to not select 'certain' people. Perhaps, this is what they may have done over the years and that is why some people have not and will never win. They have blocked these ones. I hope this is not true.

It puzzles me as to why people would put 'things pass' people. I don't ever 'say never' or it's 'impossible"...This fiasco unveiled that 'anything' is possible and raised many red flags and suspicion. While I understand that not everyone can 'win', it seems ironic to me that persons who have been playing for years have yet to win.
Lastly, I truly feel that the majority of the ex-winners were punished, thus they lost the 2nd draw. Well, the USA is a 'World Power' and I guess they have the power to do whatever they want. Not fair all the time.
Out of curiosity, is it possible for DoS or anyone for that matter to track our IP addresses? My friend mentioned that he's thinks people from DoS and OIG etc. are monitoring various forums to track persons discussing immigration related topics. Once they are successful, they may have blocked us from winning the DVL....

It doesn't matter, you and most people weren't selected and are making such a big deal out of it now. Comon... The chances of winning were 1% on average and you know that. Although if it would make you feel better to think it was all mistake that you were not specifically chosen then thats fine. But damn... Bit far fetched don't you think?
There were millions of people worldwide who were disappointed for not being selected last Friday. You just have to accept it and move on, I know it's easy for me to say but I did accept it when I realized I didn't get selected for may 1st. I really did not even care to be honest, now look at my outcome lol
