We (parents) are both permanent residents. We are going to travel to US from India with our newborn son. I know that he will be granted green card once he enters US. But does the airline allow to board the baby without any visa? Do I have to get some document from the US Consulate? If somebody has similar experience please let me know which airlines did they use ?
Thanks

I read your articlie. Could you please tell me the in detail? Did you guys get any document from US Embasyy in India? Did airport autoirty asked your any questions as child did not have visa. Please reply me with full detail.

What makes you think your son will be granted an immediate GC? Normally, children of permanent-resident parents come under the F2A category, which is currently processing Jan 2003 priority dates for Indian citizens.

edit: oops, didn't realize the OP was from 2006.

How do these people keep digging posts that are more than 1 year old, expecting to get an answer from the OP?

Add the newborn to one of the parent's passport. Carry the BC of the child. Airline should be aware of such situations. Just curious, why not give birth to the child in the US?

Either way, your post is incorrect - the child will be given an I-551 stamp at the POE and become a permanent resident, provided that it is its (and the parents') first entry to the US since birth and the child is under 2.

get something from the US consulate, or the airline may not let you onboard. AirFrance in Israel doesn't let you board the plane without a plastic card in your hand. They don't care if you have an I-551 stamp in your passport which is good for a year. Causes all sorts of problems with getting a travel letter from the US consulate and rescheduling your flight.
