asylum approved but no EAD card in Mail?

my gf got approved for asylum from asylum office, final approval ofcourse and today she got a letter from asylum office which has her I-94 card and approval letter but whats not there was EAD.

Do they asylum office mail EAD after they mail approval documents or we have to apply at NEBRASKA?

I know the law is that asylum office must mail or give EAD to those who got approved asylum from asylum office.

SHould she just wait to come in mail?

also, to apply for SS card, all she needs is the I-94 card cos she has no passport as it was taken by asylum office?

any recent asylum winners, please share your expereince.
 
She would need a Govt issued picture ID and proof of asylum for her to apply for SSN. Don't get too reved up about the EAD. You do not need it to work if you have unrestricted SSN and a Govt issued picture ID.
 
the problem is you need two documents for SSC. Since she doesn't have national passport and no any state IDs, she will have to get an EAD as proof of legal and approved ID.

She can't show BC as proof of identytification.
So she needs EAD to apply for SSC.

also, they regularly mail the EAD along with I-94, but not this case. I know some who got EAD In mail with i-94.

It is wierd that they mail the approval letter weeks after asylum approval date shown on I-94 card.

in other word, I-94 has earlier approval date and approval letter has later date.

I know a freind of mine who has I-94 card that shows asylum approval of July 2008 and the asylum approval letter that is dated october.

SHould he apply for GC since one year has passed based on I-94 card? or apply according to the date on approval letter?

This question specially goes to THANKFUL.

I would go with the approval date on I-94 card and not the approval letter date.

look at the approval letter. you have one date on TOP OF THE LETTER as part of the heading. that is not the date i'm talking about. then, in the text below, it should mention you have been granted asylum on (a certain date), which should match the date on your i-94.
 
and here what it should read in ur letter: " It has been determined that you are eligible for asylum in the United States. Attached please find a completed Form I-94, Arrival Departure Record, indicating that you have been granted asylum status in the United States pursuant to § 208 (a) of the Immigration and Nationally Act (INA) as of March 13, 2002 (made up date)."

on ur i-94 its should also read March 12, 2002.
