THanks for your reply. I am also planning to send my revalidation and had doubts and questions about that and so I posted them.

I am aware what this thread is about and so far what I have been reading in other threads there are lot of discussions in other threads which are not even relevant at all.

I would not have posted my question if I had found some similar situation elsewhere.

A thread for this kind of persons is on some psychiatrist site not on immigration site because this kind of worry is problem is related to mind or brain and it is not immigration problem

Revalidation in Passport

Hi all:

I am H1B approval notice as well as H1B Visa in Passport expiring by Oct 2004.
I am started the extension of H1. Once I got the approval notice, I am planning to send my PP for revalidating the Visa to St.Louis.

1)Is there any deadline (60+days before or after, etc.) for the revalidation?

2)Also, I renewed my Indian Pasport recently in US. So I have my earlier Visa stamped in the old PP? Is there will be a problem?

Your input wil be greatly appreciated.

Hi RK1971,
Well you can revalidate ur H1 Visa here in US 60 days before the expiry or until 1 year of ur current Stamping expiry.
i.e, in ur case

60 days before -Oct 2004(Current H1 Expiry)
or
Until Oct 2005 (1 year after H1 expiry)

But again there are rumours that St. Louis will not be revalidating visas after Sep 2004 due to new guidelines for Visa Stamping(Finger Printing & Stuff), so better check with ur attorney and act fast in order to avoid stamping in India.

Again iam not sure what are the formalities with respect to new & old PP (Multiple PP's). I hope that will not be a major issue. Check with ur HR / Attorney they might be able to guide u thru'

It will be highly appreciated If anyone in this forum can help me on the following items of DS-156 and DS-157. The reason I am asking these questions to find out the correct answers to avoid any rejection due to incorrect information. I did post these questions earlier but except one I did not get answers for others. So someone who already submited/stamped please reply.

Q-22. When do you intend to Arrive in US?
As I am already in US shall I leave blank????
And after get the form printed shall I mention that 'Already in US'. Please
advise.

Q-29. Have you ever been in the US.?
Please suggest in details. Date part is most confusing.
Date : Should I mention the date on which I entered first time in US?
For How long : Should I say ... 'Till Date.'

Q-30. Have you ever been issued a US Visa?
Should be YES and then what should be in the DATE field? As this is
my 7th year extension I have already extended 2 times and stamped
for my 1st extension. I did not stamped my last one. So should it
be the 'issue date' of the last visa stamping on my passport???

I had asked the same questions on the murthy forum. Here are the replies that i got

1. Q-22. When do you intend to Arrive in US?
A. If you are using the electronic form, dont make any changes after printing it. They use the barcode to import your info into their DB. So, if u make changes, there is a chance that they might reject it.

As to what should you write for the date, leave it blank.

2. Q-29. Have you ever been in the US.?
A. I wrote the date that I first entered US (since then I have gone outside the US for not more than a month at a time..so, I claimed that I have been here continuously since the first date). Calculate the time between now and when your entry date for "How Long"

3. Q-30. Have you ever been issued a US Visa?
A. I got my F1 in 1998, H1 in 2000 (which I got stamped in 2001). When filling the electronic form, yo can only put one date/VISA. So, I gave the details of my pervious H1B and not F1. Since I was trying to revalidate my h1B, which requires that you have an H1 validated atleast once, I decided to put the H1 info.

I think you guys should spend sometime reading posts on other forums.

So many people have used electronic bar code form(actual bar code number, and not just the space) and left Q.22 blank before printing and then after printing wrote already in US. Before saying anything like ur app getting rejected confirm it from more sources.

For Q.30 also I left blank and wrote both my F1 and H1 visa details . I mean come on ur giving all info and they will reject ur app based on the fact that u should not have written anything after printing. If this was such a big problem beleive me u would see this as an instruction on their website. They are pretty clear in their instructions.

So please dont scare people by incomplete info.
