Applying for TD status for Japanese wife.

I am a Canadian citizen currently living in Japan with my wife and 2 children. I have a job offer in the US, and I will be entering with TN status. However, I cannot find any clear information about how my non-Canadian wife and 2 kids who also have only Japanese passports should apply for their TD status.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Go to the consulate with your offer letter and degree, and request a TN visa for yourself and a TD visa for your dependents. A TN visa stamp is not typically granted, except in these circumstances where it is needed so that the dependents can get the TD stamp.

The other option is to enter the US by yourself and get the TN on entry, then provide copies of your degree, paystubs and I-94 for your dependents to get a TD at the consulate.
 
TRC is correct. Only in rare instances they may grant her a TD stamp before you get TN. Of course entry into US would require proof of your actual TN. In this case your TN and her TD status, at the border.
But, more likely, the situation will play out as TRC described above -- and this is best for you as it removes any doubt about TN approval.
