Applying for entry Through Father

I am a UK citizen, thinking of gaining entry for myself, my partner and her daughter(16), via my father who is a US Citizen.

I take it that I can get entry as a Single child, through my father, then need to marry my partner.

I am travelling to Los Angeles to see my father in November, and may make enquiries then.

Is it worth me taking any documents (birth cert.)
and what is the best route.
What forms need to be filled?

I understand the Local Immigration office for LA would be Laguna Niguel?
Is it possible to visit there for further advice.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Assuming you are not married, if your father petitions for you it would fall under FB1. You would need to wait approximately six years for a visa to become available and then emigrate. It would then take another 5-6 years to get your partner a visa. You're better off getting married and filing under FB3, where you "only" need to wait eight years but you and your wife could get a visa at the same time.

It is exceptionally unlikely that her daughter would get an immigrant visa.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

I take it that these applications are made via I-130
Are there any further forms to fill or required documents.

Also what would happen should my father die during the application process?

with the death of the petitioner, the petition will be void. However, several months ago, somebody here wrote about priority date portability and a substitute sponsor for a case like this. You need to do some research.
