Application for naturalization

I sent my I-90 to replace my green card in November , got my finger prints done early December and it is right now in the initial review process .
I have been in the US since 1999 and never had to deal with the police , so i am not worried about my status as a permanent resident and the FBI check being done right now .
What i would like to know is if it is ok for me to send the N400 form to start the naturalization process , while my new green card is being produced and should i send the letter from USCIS saying that i am waiting for my new GC , I still have my GC ( they put a sticker in the back to extend the expiration date to June) should I photocopy that as well with the application ?

Why are you worried about the standard background check for GC renewal if you've never been in trouble?
You can send in your N-400 now if you meet all the eligibility requirements. Send in a copy of your current GC as well as your I-90 as proof you have renewed it. No need to first wait to receive new GC before you apply for naturalization.

Thanks for the answer , but i never said i was worried about the background check for GC renewal , i actually wrote the opposite , saying that because i never had to deal with the police I was not worried about the I90 application.
What i was not sure , was about being able to apply for naturalization WHILE I was in a process or renewing my GC , but it looks like your answer that .

Wait for an online mesage saying the card is being produced. If you have two active pending applications that require your A-file that just causes an internal misrouting of your file and causes delays.
