AOS or CP?

Folks, I am confused and need your help.
I am an asylee and will be applying for my GC in January 2008. I am planning to get married in Summer 2008 before my GC approval so that I could do a Follow-to-Join. The marriage will take place here in the U.S. My fiancee lives in my country of persecution.

I am confused if I should do AOS or CP. If I am not wrong, if I do AOS, my wife has to maintain status while she is in the U.S. which could be difficult to do. With CP, I will not be present to give my wife hope and ease her nervousness. What would you folks do if you were in my shoes?

As far as I know, you had to be married when your asylum claim was approved (not when GC got approved) to be qualified to follow-to-join. That is one of the difference between FB/EB follow to join and asylum.
Just double check with someone who knows asylum case well.

I believe you are dead right. The OP needs to file an I-130 for his wife once he gets his own GC.
