Called the consulate today morning...

and talked to an operator.

I was told that expect interview in 2nd or 3rd week or January. Upon asking for 1st week, I was told to my surprise that ALL of my documents were in by 26th November, it cannot happen before 2nd week. Whereas all of my documents reached them on 29th October !!!!

Also, I asked do I need PCC even though I just lived in US & India?

The answer was YES. This sounds very weird.

Others, please call up and see if you get similar answer or not.

I can almost bet that , if you tell them your interview is in Dec..they will still say that we require PCC.
Did you ask them when did they change the rule ? and also when did they intend to inform us ?
Did you ask if this is only for Jan people or even for Dec and Feb.

Cool down .. wit till we are informed in writing .

Thanks so much for your update. Did you (or your attorney) receive any email from the consulate soon after you sent your papers in October? When did you receive your case number?

On a separate note, this PCC thing is bizzare. They can not change the rule overnight and if they do, they need to inform us so that we can arrange to get the papers. I am going to call the consulate soon- will keep you all posted.
 
My Attorney

received an email on 5th November or so mentioning about my case #. I also had sent an email on 5th (this is before my attorney told of the email he received), for which I got a reply on 16th mentioning about my case # and acknowledging that they will be sending my P4 to India address.

So that\'s why I am surprised to hear from the operator that they received ALL the papers by 26th November. Probably they might have entered this info on 26th.

Regarding PCC, I am not going to do anything unless I get a notification from consulate except I am going to ask my parents to find out how easy/hard is to get PCC and how long it takes from the police station in India.
 
Interview date is Jan 23rd

Hey guys, anybody else with the same date? They said that the P4 was mailed to me and my attorney on Dec 4th. I had given my india address. Hope they have sent it to mumbai address. Let\'s see...

Interview Date is 2nd January

I am still sceptical about the date, but will be going ahead and planning as per this date. On Monday, someone told me that my Interview is either in 2nd or 3rd week and now the date is 2nd.

Secondly, asking about PCC this time around I was told that it is NOT required. Anyways, I am not going to do much except that I am having my parents checkout how long it takes to get a PCC (both from Passport office & local Police station).
