The United States offers the newcomer more economic flexibility than any other country. This is not to say that making a living in the United States is easy. It is not. It can be very difficult to find a job in the United States, especially for someone who doesn't speak English well. American workplace customs can also be difficult to learn and understand. What is true about the American economy is that it is so large, so changeable, that an ambitious person can always find some way to make money often a great deal of it.

American economy is changing no doubt about that but for the worst - what you wrote is so general its sounds like a brain washing ....making "great deal" of money is not possible anymore in any fields- except as a lawyer or surgeon (or politician)
like in any country you have people who were here before and they have connections (family and friends ) or so called "old money" (they come form influential families with money) so they ARE THE FIRST ONES IN LINE TO MAKE MONEY AND THEN ...ONLY THEN SOME IMMIGRANTS FROM GOD FORSAKEN PLACE ........now these days even rich and privileged are wining about the lack of money so whats left for the "just off the boat "migrants ...???
