It probably was a security check, nothing more. DHS already has your exit information without doing that check.

Don't know what it is. Try calling TSA and asking about it if you are concerned. I wouldn't worry though. Keep us posted.

thanx

thanx but i want to know that it is for every passenger or just for residents thanx

Which airport you were exiting?
Never heard about that...normally when you go through security lines they check your ID against your boarding card, and they write or better say they put a signature or "check" and that's it. When you go through the scanners they must of the time only want to see your boarding card since already other person check your ID. But never see that they write down something on a paper...

You said that you went to USA 2 months ago...are you living here?

Yeah they are two different agencies...is like when people try asking the custom officers where their bags are ....give me a break...

Airlines collect date from their passengers before boarding international flights, such as:

For Residents and Citizens:
Country of Residency.

For everyone else:
Country of Residency, Emergency Contact person/phone number, Address while in the US.

thanx

thank you for your replies.i live in usa but 2 months ago come to turkey for my mother's medical case and i will go to usa next week.my airport was jfk airport newyork.when the security officer check my luggage,he took my passport and my boarding card.then ask my name and look at me and my picture in passport and then fill a form.then he said we can go now at the gate for boarding time.i did not know why he took our paasport and fill that form.one more thing.before going to security check,a man took our boarding card and write some words in it and when the security officer saw that words he did that and fill that form.

I had a special security check one time while checking in for a transfer in Paris, flying back to the US. They pulled me out of the line and asked questions about my employment. I believe it may have been related to the name of the company I work for (which was noted next to the visa in my passport).

To be sincere, I would not be concern...if they wanted you for an extra screening they would do it so, but did not. It's all about TSA which has nothing to do CBP as TRC has posted.

I remember when they had the "selected program" if your boarding card has "xxx" on it you were doom to be personally "screened".

There are several procedures in place by the TSA in different airports, there are some that require that you show your passport with the boarding card at the time of the screening, others only the boarding card. In the US you must take out your shoes, in many European countries you don't need to ....so it's all depend on the airport as well and the TSA procedure at that time.

Okan,

After 9/11, the airlines pick up passengers randomly to do a security check by putting some letters on your boarding pass(little print ones). When you pass thru the security lines before entering the gates, the security agents are going to see this letters and then will search you and write something on your boarding pass. They have their own codes to do this so most of the times people won't know they are going to be search. (the letters appear on the corner of the boarding pass). After seeing that you are clear they will write something on your boarding pass. It can be anyone, a tourist, a resident, citizen, etc. It happened to me once and security agent explain it to me. what I am not sure is if he filled out a form or not. It is kind of winning the lottery ....

Great prize! you get to be delayed even more...

I returned from a trip to Venezuela yesterday, I cleared immigration (used my GC for the first time! :D) without a hassle... but at customs, after I passed the officer who told me to "carry on"... another officer stopped me, asked me to see my passport, asked me what do I do for a living and if I was bringing any Euros??? (Who goes to South America to buy Euros ).

So, it is all part of their security checks.

Of course you can't bring Euros, as a good American you're supposed to keep your assets in the currency that's slowly becoming worthless ...
