I received my plastic card in the 1st week of July. However, my wife is still waiting for hers.

I think the computer system at US CITIZEN LINE does not have many access to USCIS's database. So, they send I-551 stamp holder to 2nd inspection room to verify the I-551 stamp and A# by a 'better computer'. If that is the case, it can explain why no question asked at 2nd inspection.

My wife and I went 3:00Pm several weeks ago on a Friday. Her passport was stamped around 3:30Pm and mine was stamped around 3:45Pm. I was the last one of that day.
By the way, I was not trying to play the bottom line of timing on that day. Actually, we just got our notices around 12:00noon...
My friend told me that after passport I-551 stamp, he received 3 letters from DHS before plastic card.
1st Letter is Welcome Notice (I-181)
2nd Letter is to tell him that he should receive the card within 3 weeks.
3rd Letter is to tell him that he should receive the card within 1 week...
Does anyone have experience to use 551 stamp to visit Canada?
Do I need a Canadian visa? or 551 stamp on passport is good enough to go Canada and come back to USA freely?
