LC approved papers

I just got my approved LC DOL certified from the mail yesterday 6/28/2007!
My lawyers submitted the final documentation recruitment report about 15 days ago and it was approved in about 2 weeks! I am so happy about that.

It turned out Vancouver US consulate doesn't issue visas the same day anymore.
However, the consulate help us out get the visa the same day because of my American citizen son and with the family emergency.
Otherwise, it's next day.

is it ok if I can request to the officer that I can get it the same day and say this is an emergency situation?
I just got the confirmation letter from the NVARS reservation system and it says that:
"As of January 1, 2004, visas will not be returned the same day..."
I'm on H1B stamp visa renewal because I need to get out of the country for an emergency.

I also need to know...as per company policy for some reason they couldn't give the LC/ETA# so I can't check the status online.
It will help a lot if I can at least check the status once in a while..

They(preliminary screening/$100 fee cashier) returned my DS-158, so I supposed it is not required at all.
